.....................where would you go?
I've been itching to move out of NY, not that I can right now, but I love to think about where I would want to go if I did leave.
For no good reason other than I am SO intrigued about the area I would look into the Pacific Northwest!! Seattle area or Portland, OR area. Just looks so beautiful over there and I'm okay with some rain!!
So where would you go?........and why.
My sister moved to Portland about 3 months ago. She loves it! A little too hippyish for me, but that's right up her alley. She said she doesn't miss NY at all.
We're thinking of Portland but I heard their traffic is horrible. I certainly don't want to be around that again!

I did it and am very happy with my decision. We left for Florida. I love the weather here and I love being near the turquoise blue ocean, silky sand and palm trees. As with anywhere, NOWHERE is PERFECT. There are some things here that I don't care for, but my opinions of the pro's out weigh the cons.
Where in FL are you? We are moving there this year (Jacksonville) and having lived in NY nearly all my life I am excited but scared that I will hate it. And leaving FL wouldn't be an option, DH would kill me
We moved to the Jacksonville area 2 years ago after living in NY all our lives and we are so happy here! No regrets!!!

Hofstra- sounds like you would like where we live: Richmond, VA. Very family friendly, right on a river, hardly any traffic, tons of parks/shopping/restaurants. Virginia beach is less than 2 hours, DC 2 hours, the mountains about 30 minutes west. Great schools, nice, affordable housing. Low taxes. Summer is hot, but tolerable. Fall and spring are perfect. NY still driving distance, so we can get up there for holidays, major family events. We moved here in 2009.
What are the winters like? We thought about Richmond but I assumed it's still pretty cold (and I thought stuck in DC traffic but I guess I was wrong about that one).
Winters are pretty mild. A big snowstorm is like 3-5 inches. Usually doesn't get cold until January and once March comes, it is nice. On average, about 10-15 degrees warmer than NY. D C has bad traffic, but we are two hours south of there.
