? for medela pump users

does anyone have this problem...when pumping, does the surrounding nipple area that gets sucked into the sheild get wet and make it hard to pump out of it? I keep having to dry the inside of the sheild, my boob, and start again to get the best suction. Do you think I need a bigger or smaller size sheild?
TIA!

Re: ? for medela pump users

Sorry,I don't have any recommendations for you b/c it doesn't happen to me. Hopefully someone else will know!

Actually, this (or similar) has happened to me, I think. Are you leaning forward slightly for the milk to drop out, so it's not pooling back onto the breast? I was making this mistake in the beginning, I was leaning back in a chair and this would happen, and it would make loud suction noises. Now, I find it works best sitting pretty upright or leaning forward slightly, so the milk drips right down, not back onto the breast. Is this what you're talking about?

yes, this is exactly what im talking about, only i do lean forward but somehow droplets end up getting in between my skin and the sheild...causing the suction to be less strong (less friction i guess b/c its wet/lubricated)...im wondering if i need a different size sheild Chat Icon

Hmm...I know they make the different sizes, and I think they're relatively cheap. Unless others on here have different suggestions, I'd try the larger shields. Good luck Chat Icon

I would also recommend trying different sized shield, and also leaning forward so the milk drips into the bottle easier. Good luck!

I'd try a different size as PP recommended. I never had the problem so I guess the shield was a good fit for me.
