Are you giving your baby the flu shot? No the H191, but the regular influenza?

Re: For moms of babies 1 and under...

I was at the dr yesterday and asked him about it. He said they don't do flu shots until the baby is 6 months old and DD is only 3 1/2 months but he does recommend that DH and I get one.

Re: For moms of babies 1 and under...

Nope, although I may be "forced" to as apparently in NJ it's mandatory for children in daycare 6 months or older to get a flu shot during flu season Chat Icon

absolutely. My son has Asthma and too many breathing problems as it is. I cannot imagine how his little body would respond to the Flu. My DH and I will both be vaccinated as well.

My DD is only 3.5 months now but I will be giving her the shot when she is 6 months old. I have a 2 year old who will be in preschool so I am worried about what she will bring home. I will only give the regular flu shot without the mercury (the only one my ped carries). I won't be giving the swine flu shot though - too new and I don't want my kids to be test children.

Yes... DS is 3.5 months old. He's in daycare so when he's 6 months I'll have him get the shot. The Ped recommended it b/c he's in a daycare

I think we will all get the vaccine (myself, DH, SS and DS) but I am going to talk to our PED at his 9 month checkup in 2 weeks to get her opinion.

Re: For moms of babies 1 and under...

I didn't give it to Ryan last year. He was 6 months old at the time.

I don't think I'll give it to him this year either.

DS just got his first round of the flu shot last week. He's in daycare and constantly comes down with something. I didn't want to take any chances.

I don't think so. I'm home with him, so I was thinking DH and I get the shot and not the baby.

Christopher and Nicholas both got it on Tuesday with their other 6-month shots. The peditrician recommended and we were fine with it anyway. I'll also be getting one.

Yes. She will be getting hers in the next week or so. I got mine already. (her 9 month appmt was the day we left for vacay and I didn't want her to get it right before leaving in case she had a reaction, so we're going back for it.)

Re: For moms of babies 1 and under...

DD is 9 mths.

I am very torn. We have an appt for Monday but I may or may not go.

I dont want to give it, but last winter I was a mess worried about this. So now that I have to worry about the swine flu too (I wont give that shot, I highly doubt), I am leaning towards getting this regular one so I can maybe worry a tad bit less....

KWIM?

I am a SAHM, so DD has a lower risk. Also DH gets the flu shot (has asthma so we don't worry so much about him). But my family doesn't get flu shots and they are VERY stubborn re washing their hands around my DD so I worry most about them and what they might expose her to.Chat Icon
