? for moms who were induced
I found out today that I will be induced next week if dosent make his appearance before then. I am already 40w3d so they are letting me go till 10 days past due. I am not dilated or effaced at all. So, they think I will go in on Sunday night to start the Cervadil and then Monday morning they will start the Pitocin.
Can you share your experience with me either by posting or FM? How long was your labor? How fast did contractions start once the Pitocin was started? Did you end up having a C and why? I am just trying to prepare myself as much as possible.
Thanks!

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I was induced at 37 weeks due to low fluid. I was admitted at 4PM. They started pitocin at about 5 PM and I got my epidural at 9 PM. After that I slept comfortably on and off for a few hours. At about 1:30 AM my ob said it was time to push. An hour and half later DD was born vaginally. So they really started me at 5PM and I gave birth at 3AM. It took between 9 and 10 hours but it was a wonderful experience. For me, there was nothing scary about it and the epidural was great!!!
Good luck! I hope you have a positive experience!!!

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I was due 10/10 and had DD 10/12. Went to the Dr's office on 10/11 for my NST and was admitted to L&D for further monitoring. Started cirvadil at 8pm, it was taken out next morning at 8am and pitocin (sp?) was started at 8:30am. Started to have contractions around 9:30-10am but since they kept upping my dose until I finally got them they were VERY strong. I was 4cm dilated, got my epidural and next thing I know I was being rushed for an emergency c-section and DD was born on 10/12 at 12:10pm
Good luck!! I hope everything works out and you have a great birth experience!!

Re: ? for moms who were induced
There is a link to my birth story in my profile. I am too lazy to retype everything I had cervadil, pitocin, and ended with a c-section... not because the induction went wrong, because DS was sunnyside up.

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I was induced at 40 weeks, 5 days.
I was given cervadil at about 2 pm on Thursday. Then Pitocin at 7am on Friday.
Never dialated over 3 cm, got a fever, Bp went really high and had to have a c-section. DD weighed in at a petite 9 lbs....

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I was induced at 41 weeks. The night I checked into the hospital for my induction, they hooked me up to the monitors and realized I was already starting mild contractions on my own. I also did not need Cervadil, just 1 round of Pitocin.
I first laid in the hospital bed at 7:30pm, and had DD by 2:30am, no c-section.
I realize I had a very good labor for an induction.

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I got the cervadil. STILL after about 6 hours, I wasn't dialating but was having major contractions. I didn't get the pitocin at all. I was sent in for an emergency c-section since the baby's heart rate was dropping significantly with each contraction.

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I did not have Cervadil. I was induced with pitocin. The whole labor was 6 hours, very easy. But, it was my second child and I was already 2cm and 60% effaced.

Re: ? for moms who were induced
i had a great induction. got cervadil at 11am. mild contractions all day. had it removed at 11pm. went into full labor immediately and was 3 cm. by 1ish I had my epidural and was 10cm. slept for 45 min. pushed for about an hour 1.5hrs, gave birth at 3:22am. I was supposed to sleep after the cervadil was removed and then get pitocin in the morning. I never made it that far.

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I was induced at 40 weeks, two days. I had pitocin. Great experience. I delivered vaginally AND DS turned to sunnyside up position during labor. Started pitocin around 9 a.m. and delivered at 5:49 p.m.

Re: ? for moms who were induced
i was induced Friday at 37 weeks b/c I was showing signs of Toxemia...
I had Cervadil Thursday night into Friday morning and then pitocin....after 20 hrs of contractions...I had NO dialation or efacement...so induction failed....I opted not to go a second day of induction and had a C-section. I'm very happy with my decicion....recovery has not been bad at all!
HTH!

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I was induced on my due date. I had IF issues involving my uterus and they didn't want to leave the baby in there any longer than necessary. I got to the hospital at 4pm on Thursday and was not AT ALL dilated. I immediately got the cervadil, hung out and went to sleep feeling nothing. By the morning I felt strange - like period cramps. I then got pitocin and the contractions got much stronger within 1 or 2 hours. I guess I am a wimp b/c they gave me the epidural at only 3cm dilated. I was then in heaven until 3pm, when I was 10cm dilated and started pushing. I pushed for 2 hours and out came DS (no C-section!). So it was about 24 hours start to finish, and a wonderful experience.

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I was induced at 40.6 weeks. Cervidil was put in at 9p.m. the night before. At 7:00 a.m. the Dr. took it out and started Pitocin. At 8:30 a.m. he broke my water at this point I was only 1cm which I was at for weeks. As soon as he broke my water I started getting contractions By 9:30 a.m. I dilated to 4cm got my epidural.. By 1:30 p.m. I was ready to push and at 1:42 he was born.. It went very fast.. I would do it all over again! a million times! :)

Re: ? for moms who were induced
I was induced 5 days after my due date due to low fluid levels. I went in on Wednesday night and instead of cervidil my Dr. put in a balloon cathetor. I slept overnight and by the morning I was 4cm. The Dr. came in at 7am and broke my water and started me on a low does of pitocin since I was having mild contractions on my own. By 11am I was 5 cm and had the epi, I was fully dilated by 2:30pm. Delivered vaginally around 4:30pm.
