do you feel so out of the loop at times? I learn so much from this website, but if it were local to me, I would know so much more.

I have only been to Long Island 3 times in my life. Once to Lynbrook, a party. Once to Jones Beach. And once to somewhere so far out for a New Yrs Eve house party.
I don't know the towns, or schools, or pizza places

we will have to meet in midtown one day or I will be in the Bronx for about 30 minutes on Nov 6(cheering DH and my dad on for the marathon)

I'm in NJ too. But...I grew up on LI, so I don't feel too out of the loop because I usually have an idea of what people are talking about for certain towns, etc.

Well I'm a displaced Long Islander. My husband is Active Duty so since the day I married him we have been moving around but since I live their for 23 years I like coming here and hearing about familar places and things it's like coming home.. So sad probably but very true.
My parents have since retired and moved off of LI as well so its nice to have this outlet.

yes...sometimes I feel left out, but mot things I remember like landmarks and the seasonal stuff like going pumpkin picking

When I lived on SI, I felt left out, but once I got married and moved to Queens, I didn't really feel that way. I started going to GTGs, and DHs family and many of our friends live on LI, so we are there all the time anyhow. We plan on eventually moving to Nassau County. I have had friends on LI since high school, so I have grown very familiar with Nassau County.

Sometimes I do... It's most things that I miss out on no longer living on LI. Like yesterday, talking about Cow Harbor Day, I used to go there all the time, and I wish I could have gone.
My parents are still in East Setauket, tho, so I'm home for holidays

I grew up on LI and I'm only an hour and a half away. I think I'd feel a little homesick if I didn't have this site to come to.
