For saving money on groceries, has anyone done this...?
The Grocery Game
Someone was talking about it on LIW a little while back, but I wanted to see if anyone had actually done it and whether or not they saved money.
TIA!

I signed up, but I found it to be more trouble than it was worth and never used it. Full discolsure: i am not a patient person.

I did the free trial thing. I didn't like it because: 1. You have to be willing to stock up on items when you don't need them. (I don't have room to do this.) 2. MANY of the items are processed and/or boxed foods, which I don't eat.

Okay, thanks. This is what I was really worried about.
We buy mostly fresh veggies, chicken, and meat, so I'm thinking this won't really help us save much! Thanks

Ive seen this site, but I pretty much do this on my own.
my hubby told me start a business like this so many times.
I can barely focus on my own grocery list, never mind thousands of others but it seems like a great concept !

I did it when i lived out of state and it really did work, but that was mainly b/c they double coupons up to and including $1.00 and on coupons over $1 they would count the coupon plus $1. It doesn't work as well in NY, since they only double upto $.99.

I didn't realize you posted this. Yes!!! It was awesome. I used it with the Ralph's on Nobel and Villa La Jolla. (I don't think Albertsons and Vons doubles every day).
anna - it could work with that KK, but do they give you the dollar for the $1.50+ coupons?

So funny, that's exactly where we shop!
Maybe I'll give it a try

Re: For saving money on groceries, has anyone done this...?
It takes a little work. On Sunday mornings I would get the SD U-T delivered and I would print out the list of things I wanted. I cut out every single coupon and organize them (you need to cut out every one, since something can come up in another week; granted I didn't cut out denture creams, etc). Then I would find the right coupon for the items that I wanted on the list (It takes a few weeks of getting the paper to build up a coupon supply to get everything you want on the list).
One thing it was great for was TP and toothpaste - we never even came close to running out and I even stopped buying toothpaste unless I could get it for $.25 or free! You do need to be careful though - if you are not going to use it, don't buy it, unless it's free or pennies (she has it color coded)
Have you ever tried Henry's (on governors and regents) It is awesome - produce is defintiely better priced there and they have the BEST coffee!
