Money saving tips...

I am obessed with saving money all of the sudden- ( My Dad even asked me what happened to his daughter when I told him that)

I would love to here everyone's money saving tips!

I already cut back ALOT!

no more cleaning lady- started when I couldn't find one- now I realize - I don't need one

Do my own nails

Take advantage of the free breakfast and lunch at work

Bring my own tea from home in the morning

I clipped coupons for the frist time this week

I used the supermarket card- and compare the circulars on line before I go

what else can I do?

The biggest thing I do you are already doing. Every week when I get the supermarket circulars, I see what is on sale and I make my weekly dinner plan and I choose recipes based on what is on sale.

I also clip coupons !!! And my supermarket doubles them!

Re: Money saving tips...

Shop only when there is a sale on clothing and use the 20% off cards. I know L&T mails them out non stop.

Also run all your errands at once, save on gas.

King Kullen usually doubles all the time up to $1
I think Waldbaums will up to $.99.

Re: Money saving tips...

- I do my own nails (I go for a manicure once every 3 or 4 weeks though)
- I clip coupons - I am obsessed with them lol (especially King Kullen $10 off coupons that S&S accepts Chat Icon)
- I cook at least 3-4x a week
- I buy non perishables and paper goods in bulk when they're on sale
- I never put more than 87 octane gas in my car

ETA: S&S always tells you on the receipt how much $ you saved. I went grocery shopping this morning and saved $50! (spent $82) Chat Icon

Re: Money saving tips...

i spend his and not mine Chat Icon
thats how i save my money

in all honestly--
i dont get my nails done anymore -only if i am going somewhere. i usually do them myself..

-we buy only what we need
- i dont go shopping like crazy for clothes any more but we do give each other limits on the card each month if need be.
- we are getting a family plan now for the cell phones.
-

and the best we are really never home to cook which mean we really dont need to go food shopping lmaoooo
either my parents or his and on the weekends maybe we will go to a movie and din but not all the time..

i have been bringing my breakfast and lunch to work a lot..

Re: Money saving tips...

This is a great thread.

Coupons: Nothing like sitting at the kitchen table on Sunday, coffee in hand, clipping coupons. LOL

Bring my own lunch every day
Drink coffee at home in the morning, instead of stopping
Do my own toes, and only get a pedi once a month, as opposed to once a week.

I tell Jake too- sometimes he is actually impressed

I ask him to guess how much I spent- he is always wrong!

almost forgot! I get a lot of drug store stuff at S&S too.

ie: when they have Colgate toothpaste on sale for $2, I use a 75 cent coupon, which then gets doubled, so I pay 50 cents for it! Chat Icon

We do the same thing- my DH has to try to guess how much I saved and he's always below the savings!
Who would have thought grocery shopping could be so much fun.

they're just regular old coupons from the Sunday Newsday. S&S doubles any coupon up to 99 cents. so a 75 cent coupon is $1.50 off.

just don't forget to use the S&S card when you're checking out.

and another...

I recently bought those dryer balls (as seen on TV lol). with a 20% off coupon at LNT, they were 8 bucks. I LOVE THEM! they really do work. I still use Bounce dryer sheets b/c I love how they smell. but I am not buying Downey anymore. and at $6-$7 a bottle, that will save some $ in the long run. it aint much... but every little bit helps.

I use envelopes and budget out cash the week before.

No more starbucks! I KNOW, drastic.

Can you carpool?

I use dryel instead of drycleaning whenever I can.

Re: Money saving tips...

I have a Citibank Dividends rewards card. It was paying me 5% cashback on grocery, gas and pharmacy. So we started using this card for all those things and stopped using our gas card. They recently reduced it to 2% on any purchase, but it still adds up. So now I charge EVERYTHING and just make sure I pay it off every month. I just got a rebate check for $280!!!!

I also cash in the rewards on my other cards too.

I signed up for Upromise, so I earn cash in a college savings account for DS when I shop on line with certain vendors, or use my registered cards to purchase Upromise sponsored items (ie: 4% on Domino sugar purchased with my stop & shop card).

I buy my toiletries and pantry foods at target. I find them much cheaper.

Re: Money saving tips...

when you go grocery shopping, never be afraid to buy the store brand. It's usually a little bit cheaper than the regular brand, but almost always made by the same people that make the more expensive brand.
