For the moms who are worried about their non-crawlers...
I just got this in an email from Baby Center (for my DD's 9 month 1 week update):
Baby's Not Crawling?
If your baby is not crawling or pulling to a stand by this age, you may be concerned about his development. There are many normal, healthy babies who are not as interested in gross motor activities and are quite content to sit and play quietly. These babies may be great observers of more active babies—constantly watching and absorbing information.
Chances are your baby will start crawling suddenly. Remember, some babies don't crawl: Many scoot on their bottoms, creep on their tummies, or figure out other means of getting from point A to point B. Some go straight to pulling to a stand and cruising around furniture. Once these babies start moving, they tend to learn how to move themselves at a faster rate than the more active babies did a few months back.
It is far more important to support your baby's individual interests than to push him into doing something before he is ready. If you are still concerned about your child's lack of interest in moving, talk to his healthcare provider who can do an assessment, which will probably result in your peace of mind. Our advice? Enjoy not having to chase your baby while you can!
So DON'T worry!

Thank you! DS is 8.5 months and not there yet. Not interested in gross motor skills at all. He is all about fine motor skills, staring at people and analyzing everything.
He actually found that he coud just pull the comforter he sits on the floor to get the toys he wants without moving.

We now have a mat, but we used to put DD on a blanket and she'd do the same thing!

My DS as well. He stares at people, he observes everything. He rotates his toys to look at it in every angle.

Oh the must see angle of every toy and he is a "label" man. He loves to take the labels in his fingers and over analyze them. He can last 25 minutes on 1 label.

the labels, how could I forget. some toys he loves that more than the toy itself. He will suck on the labels.
He loves the labels, strings, hair on toys; he loves to touch each one then suck on them.

Re: For the moms who are worried about their non-crawlers...
I never crawled, though I was standing (with support) at 10 months and walking shortly after. My sister never really did either--she also started standing and walking around the same time.

Andrew crawled closer to 11 months. I remember how upset I was that something was wrong. He started walking soon after

Re: For the moms who are worried about their non-crawlers...
Thanks!
Its funny how fast they do "things"
LAst week I was Fm;ing about being scared he did nothing.
Now he doesnt crawl but he cruises around the house and can walk from one piece of furniture to the next and he never crawled.
HE scoots on his butt wherever he needs to get now if he cant hold on and walk there.
So this is 100% true. ALL abbies are different.
Thanks again for posting.
