For those going to the circus this weekend at the Coliseum
Do you know if an hour before we can go see the animals and clowns and such in person prior to the circus starting? I know they do this in the summer but not sure if they do it so early in the year.
Is there anything I can bring for DS? He's 15 1/2 months. So the snacks we can buy he can't or I won't want to give him.

Yes - an hour before they let you onto the floor - and you can walk all over. It is usually very crowded though. They have jugglers, acrobats, etc.
I always bring a diaper bag - with cheerios, apple juice in a straw cup (or juice box) or some goldfish and have never been given a problem. Now that DD has had these hives she is on a severely restricted diet - and there is nothing there that she could eat so if they take her snack we will have a problem- but I'm not anticipating one. I think the younger the child the less they will say. I always see people with snacks.

Yes they still do that. I have had DS to the coliseum twice in the last 2 weeks and never had a problem with taking food in for him. they look at the top part of bag. I buried everything towards the bottom... I even told the guy I had everything in there and he just laughed..

The animal open house is 1 1/2 hours before showtime and then 1 hr before they let you into the arena and down on the floor with the clowns. Have fun!

One more question re circus. Can I bring video camera or is like a concert and its a no no? Dh says no. I just want to video DS watching it not the circus itself. I can video on my phone but its not the same. Thanks.

We went opening night and it was great!!! You can bring a video camera and still camera!

Here is my review: Circus review
Is the animal open house different from when they open the rings up and walk around the rings before? Where is the animal open house - and how do you get to it. The only thing I have ever seen was the elephant in one ring and then several acrobats where you can walk around and take pictures with the clowns etc an hour before.
