For Those NYC Teachers With GHI Who Have Gone Through Or Are Going Through IVF

I forgot, its been awhile...does the fertility meds get covered through the UFT or do these types of drugs go through GHI???

Hubby says its through medco prescriptions... sorry i had to wait for him to wake up- i have nooo idea when it comes to insurance!!!

I have GHI through the city - and yes, IVF meds are covered through PICA. When I wasn't sure if we were going to go straight to IVF or start with IUI's (because of MF issues) I called GHI to double check.

Apparently PICA only covers 3 cycles of injectables LIFETIME. At least that's what the woman told me when I called (this was about 6 months ago at this point) You might want to call and check b/c if it's really the case maybe your RE can order extra meds in the order so you don't run the risk of having to pay OOP (if, which I hope you don't, need more then 3 cycles)

Can someone explain what PICA is? Do you call GHI to get the coverage through PICA or someone else? Thanks.
