For those observing Yom Kippur...
...may you all have an easy fast. May you all have been inscribed in the book of life as it is sealed for this coming year.
I look forward to hearing the cantor chant Kol Nidre tonight. It often gets me weepy as I atone for the sins of last year and pledge to be a better person in the following year. It is a true reflective time for me personally.
As for tomorrow, I shall shed even more tears as this will be the first time I will say Yiskor (memorial prayer) for both of my parents.
For those who are not observing or are not Jewish, as an FYI, it is appropriate to wish someone an "easy fast" and NOT a Happy Yom Kippur as this is a day of atonement and reflection rather than one of celebration.

Re: For those observing Yom Kippur...
I'm not fasting this year (obviously, I can't), nor will we be going to shul... I always feel so badly about it, but we do observe Yom Kippur in the way of fasting, no driving, no TV, no lights being turned on and off, etc.... and the local shul, while it's technically within walking distance, is much to far and difficult (very steep and hilly area I live in) of a walk for me at this point.
I will do my praying at home this year.
For everyone else, have an easy fast!

Im not fasting either though I should be. The last time I went without food, I passed out. I am anemic and get woozy when I dont eat. I wont be able to feed Abby if I am unconscious. G-d will forgive. She needs to be healthy. We both do.

I'm pretty sure if you are nursing you should not be fasting either. I know my sister didn't last year.

Goldi, I think you may have posted a similar reminder last year. Two years in a row you got me all choked up!
May your family, friends and loved ones all have an easy fast.

DH and I were going to attend services.
The tickets are out of control? Who can afford $600 a ticket?

Re: For those observing Yom Kippur...
An easy fast to all - haven't decided if I'm fasting - have some stomach issues going on and get pretty sick if I don't eat, but I'm going to try and play it by ear.
Goldi - thinking of you
May we all have health and happiness in the coming year

Wow are you serious?
Is that per person, and if you are not member of the temple?

I knew this but was very surprised when an observant work associate said Happy Holiday to me.
