For those of you that had a problem with the summer infant handheld monitor?

For those of you that had a problem with the summer infant handheld monitor?
If you called summer and they said they would replace it, did you have to send it back before they sent you a new one? They sent me a prepaid UPS label to send back my entire monitor so they can send me back a new one but it's going to take a few days and I really don't feel comfortable not having a monitor at night. We are in a split where the master bedroom is on its own sep fall from the rest of the bedrooms...Should I go buy a cheap monitor for the meantime????
What did you do or would you do?

Yup, we went to Target & got like an $18 sound monitor. I hated not having the video! It came in like a day or 2 though so it wasn't bad.

i have an regular monitor that you can borrow if you want. Feel free to come pick it up. Its a very basic monitor that we just have as a backup

This is what they told me at first - but, then, when I told them there was no way I was living without a monitor they took my credit card number, charged me for the new one and then refunded the charges when I sent my old one back - this was a long time ago - like a year ago but, maybe they will do the same thing for you. Also, watch out b/c the first replacement they sent me was NOT a new one - it was a refurbished one that was in worse shape than the one I sent (aside from the melting issue which was why i returned it).

THANKS SO MUCH! that is so sweet, I actually just ran out to target and got one for 17 bucks I'll keep it anyway to have as a back up for whatever reason!
