We got a recommendation from a family member, basically everyone in my family uses him and he is really good. He is at Smith Barney in Florida. We buy stocks and he has us invested in a great mutual fund. So far we average about 15 - 20% per year on our investments. We aren't agressive investors, I would say moderate.

I keep my SEP IRA at TD Ameritrade and my broker is in the Waldorf Astoria branch. FM me for contact info. He is great!
I chose TD b/c they allow me to invest my IRA funds in private placements (ie. I am able to invest in my hedge fund).

My broker is my boss's brother...my boss is a CPA and uses him and his brother, the broker, has many many years experience. He recommended a program called quantitative choice (its basically a group of multiple stocks bought and sold...thru wachovia) and it is doing totally AWESOME making us 15% so far on our total investment since January!!

we have a scottrade account b/c my DH is techincally a stocker broker- even though he doesn't work as one anymore
and I have a smith barney account- I let them do the picking

When DH and I decided to merge our accounts I left my broker to go with the son of his parent's broker. My old broker was also at Smith Barney.

Talk to Angela (angnick) about this. She's great -- she picked all of my 401K stocks for me.  I know nothing about this stuff.

We use TD Ameritrade. But we don't consult with any of the brokers there, DH is in investment research so he knows what he wants to be in. We use TD b/c he used to work for a sister company to them and we were both required to use them for all investments so they could monitor our trades. The fund he works for now doesn't care who we use and we were too lazy to change it all.
