We alternate holidays with our families. Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas Eve is generally with my IL's, Thanksgiving morning and Christmas day with my family - so we never really have an issue.

We're inviting both sides, though we only expect mine to come.

We don't live near our families, but if we did live close enough to invite both families, we would. I can't imagine inviting my parents and not my ILs, or vice-versa. Growing up both sets of grandparents and all uncles and cousins were invited over for every holiday. I can't imagine it any other way.
