For those who had a child with tubes put in the eats
At what point did they determine that your DC would need tubes in his/her ears?

Re: For those who had a child with tubes put in the eats
After having 6 ear infections in a 2 month span. He got one, we treated it, it cleared, and then 3 days later, we were back.... we repeated this process over and over and over with different antibiotics....
FINALLY, went to an ENT who suggested tubes.

Re: For those who had a child with tubes put in the eats
When he had an ear infection for 6 weeks that would not drain and did not respond to 3 different antibiotics. We had gone through many ear infections before, but they generally cleared up with meds only to come back a week or two later. This time, it would not clear and the ENT told us not draining was the indicator that is was time for tubes. They had done hearing tests before and they were fine, but this time, the hearing test showed the infection was effecting his hearing, so they said that was it. It took a year of doc visits/meds/complaining to get them to finally do it. He's been great since.

Re: For those who had a child with tubes put in the eats
My DC is 10.5 months old. So far, he has had 2 official ear infections but both of them came back once the antibiotics were done. The first time we found it came back at his 2 week check up post finding out about the ear infection. This time, he finished the meds and last night he spiked a fever. He was cranky all day and very clingy. I am bringing him into the ped at 10:30 to have him checked and I'm sure they will tell me the ear infection is back. Should I ask about tubes?

Ask your ped to recommend an ENT. An ENT will be more able to decide if Tubes are right for his case. Something like this requires a specialist.

Re: For those who had a child with tubes put in the eats
After both my DC had 10+ ear infections where the infection or fluid didn't clear with antibotics he recommended a visit to the ENT.
My ped believes tubes are done too frequently these days so we waited for DD until she was 20 months. My DS we did it at 10 months based on my DD history and his back to back ear infections and intolerance to most antibotics.

Re: For those who had a child with tubes put in the eats
After about 5 ear infections that wouldnt clear up and the fact that Abby was developing thrush from the antibiotics, our pediatrician sent us to the ENT.
If you have any questions, feel free to FM.
