For those who had a scheduled C/S, how far in advance was is scheduled?

When I was PG with DS, they scheduled the C/S right after I was seen at my 39wk appt (scheduled it for my due date) due to DS' size.

I am PG now, and discussed w/ Dr's it will be a scheduled C/S this time, and we'd proabably schedule the date 1 week before- I was HOPING to have a date sooner, maybe a few weeks at least, if not a month before.

What has been your experience??

ETA: For clarification- looking to see how far in advance the Dr booked the c/s. Not how early can they do a c/s.

the day before i dont know if that's considered "scheduled"?

i had my 40w appointment and we decided on a section - it was done less than 24 hours later!

This is a 1st for me, a scheduled c-section and my understanding is that the hospital only allows 2wks in advance, or prior to due date.

Im having twins and could go sooner.

My doc is good with going at 38wks since that is the norm for twin pregnancy.

I dont see why going sooner than 38wks on a singleton pregnancy would be beneficial or good for baby unless it was medically needed/necessary.

My c/s for DS was scheduled at my 32 week appointment for 38w6d. That was the earliest the hospital would allow for it. It was a repeat c/s.

Subsequently I had some major issues arise and they wanted to take DS at 37 weeks so I had to have an amnio before the hospital would do it.

Well, you know that I had Abby on my due date as well, but I was actually scheduled in March I believe--so around 32-33 weeks.

As for this time, my doctor told me to expect a c-section date sometime during the 39th week, but as for when she'll actually schedule it? I don't know; I'm guessing two months prior like the last time? I think most people are scheduled at least that early. Probably you too since it's a different situation than your last...you already KNOW you're having a C, KWIM?

It's depends on when your doctor gets their schedule. I also wanted my particular doctor to do it. She even came in on her day off to do it. Mine was scheduled 2 months prior to the date that we picked together. Then she wouldn't schedule that actual c-section for anymore than 10 days prior to my due date.

I'm not sure if the question was how early can they schedule it before your due date or how early can you schedule it with the hospital so I will answer both.

My repeat CS was scheduled with the hospitale at my 26 week appt for 3 days prior to my due date. My OB said unless there was other medical necessity you can only schedule for your CS after 39 weeks.

I was looking to see how far in advance the Dr booked the c/s. (not how soon can they do the c/s)

Thanks for the answers. I have my next appt on 6/26 so I'll inquire then. Also, I want a specific dr to do the c/s.

I was told we will schedule mine at my next appointment at 32 weeks. We will schedule it for 38-39 weeks.

I believe I was able to schedule it about 6 weeks out.

I just scheduled mine this week and my original due date is August 16

I had it scheduled when I was there for my 32 week appointment. I had discussed it with my obgyn at my 16 week appointment because I really wanted a specific date. He had to get it authorized with the hospital board. I was able to get the date and time I wanted. DD was born 9/30. I was due 10/8. At my hospital the earliest you are supposed to schedule a repeat c/s is 7 days before hand. Well that would have been 10/1. In my school district being born on 10/1 makes you ineligible to start kindergarten until the following year, however 9/30 is fine. They let me have the c/s for DD on 9/30.

I'm 33 weeks and just scheduled my date yesterday. I was told it depended on the hospital and when they have their schedule available.

I almost had to have a section because DS was breech, but has since turned. I was 36 weeks when I scheduled it and 37 weeks when it was cancelled. But they let me schedule it and said I should so that I could get my preference.

So I scheduled it 3 weeks in advance.

my c/s was scheduled sometime in January I believe. My date was 4-6.

NY State Law will not permit a scheduled c-section before 39 weeks from your due date. HOWEVER, if your doctor makes a determination that you need to go sooner, it is not considered scheduled, rather emergent.

My original due date was 9/16 changed to 9/14 my c-section date is 9/7 - the very day I turn 39 weeks. My doctor told me that the hospital would turn me way if I walked in sooner without labor and not to bother.
