I had one, but returned it. The lady who did the seat inspection at the hospital said they were a hazard if i got in an accident. Im paranoid so the next day i returned it.

I have one in my car. It's one that attached with a clip to the back of the seat. Not sure who makes it.

Yes I have 2, one that is a regular mirror and one that has lights and plays music. DD does not like the car so I need things to keep her entertained otherwise she screams almost the entire time we are in the car. Both mirror parts are plastic and padded though.

Re: For those who have a child still in an infant car seat....do you have one of those mirrors so you can see them through the rear view??
I had one from BRU. It had loops that I used around the headrest. I pulled the headrest off, put the loop around the stalk, then put the headrest back on. There is no way that is coming off without the headrest coming off. If that happens, baby bottles, rattles, pocketbooks, etc. are much more dangerous to have in the car.
BTW, ANYTHING not tied down in the car is a dangerous projectile in an accident.....

I have one too that hooks to my head rest. DS loves "talking" top the monkey.
Baby Mirror
I personally think that if I got into an accident, the shades we put on the windows would be more of a hazard than this soft mirror

This one looks very similar to the one we have (our fabric part has a different pattern, but otherwise looks the same)

Same here - although I wish I had kept it. Now we use our cell phone to see him when we are stopped or if I am the passenger (it's a flip phone and I can extend it to see his reflection) He gets a kick out of it and tries to grab it...love to see him smile in the reflection

I have the same one. I really like it b/c I can see if he is sleeping or awake. I drive alone with him alot so it makes my life easier. If we were in an accident (god forbid), I think there would be many more hazards than this mirror hitting him.

We have the same one. Ive never heard of it being a hazard. Its attached to the headrest and its soft, so I dont see how it would be damaging if it fell on the baby...Its not really a mirror, its a reflector type thing that looks like a mirror, but not breakable like a mirror.

I don't believe it's a hazard at all if it is attached properly. It's one of the best purchases we made. I couldn't imagine not being able to see my baby while driving for hours alone.

This is exactly what we were told! We returned it. They said if the baby is safely positioned in the seat and the seat in properly installed, there is no reason to see them. Usually they are just sleeping when they are little anyway!

That's not totally true.... how can you see DC's face when they are facing the back of the seat? You would not be able to see if they were choking on something, putting something in their mouths, etc.
Also, if your rear-view mirror is aimed correctly and safely, so you can see traffic behind you, it's not aimed to see DC. With the extra mirror, it is pretty much in your line of sight. If your rear-view mirror is aimed to see DC, you aren't driving safely.... Unless you also have one of the clip-on mirrors that attach to the rear-view mirrors that can be aimed separately. I have one of those, but it's really hard to see DC with it. It's fairly small, but if it was any bigger, it would block my vision out the front window. I can't tell if DC have their eyes closed when I use that mirror....

If it's mounted correctly, I still think they are safer than not having them... ANYTHING in your car is a hazard.... pocketbooks, bottles, diaper bags, etc. They can all fly around the car in an accident. Without the mirror, though, you can't tell if DC is choking. BTW, I had a mirror when DC were rear-facing, and I felt much safer having it there than not.
