? for those who have DC in preschool regarding birthday party invites
What is the birthday party invite etiquette? Should we send invites to the kids that I know DS plays with only? Or do I have to invite all 13 kids? Not really sure what the right thing to do is especially since school just started. Should I not invite any of them because they are new friends and it would be a burden on the parents?
ETA We arent allowed to hand out the invites in school. They must be mailed. But as a parent would you all find it odd/annoying if your DC was invited to a kids party that they just met a few weeks ago? The party is in early Nov but I am sending the invites out to all our other guests next weekend

We've only invited friends that DD plays with. We've mailed invites to their home, never given them out in school.

It is up to you if you want to invite the whole class or just his friends but the rule at our school is if you want to hand them out in school, you have to invite the whole class.

Our school has an unwritten rule that they will only pass out the invites to the backpacks if the whole class is invites. That seems to be the norm anyway, to just invite the whole class. Those are the kids your child will be mostly socializing with this year.

I invite the entire class. We have received invites where only some of the class has been invited via e-vite and I have always felt badly for those kids that were not included.

I would not find it annoying to be invited to a child's party when school just started. They always have the option to say no. Plus it's a great way to meet the other parents.

I invited my DD"s class at the temple -she knows most of the kids, plus it's a small school so most of the moms know each other too. For her afternoon pre-k at the public school I only invited a few that she knows. It's a big class and I couldn't invite everyone.

I ended up inviting DDs whole class, only a couple of them RSVPed and only a 2 came-this is day care though, so it may be a little different.

Re: ? for those who have DC in preschool regarding birthday party invites
I invited the whole class, and most of the kids did come. I didn't want anyone to feel left out, but it did end up being a really big party for a 3 year old. There were kids in the class who had parties that only invited a few children.

Re: ? for those who have DC in preschool regarding birthday party invites
When my son was in preschool, I only invited (by mail) a few of the kids who were his best buddies. But his birthday was in February so by then I had a sense of who were his buddies and it changed from PreK 3 to Prek 4. Many people in his class did invited the class, even got an invite the 2nd day of class when he was in PreK 3. I was surprised how quick in invite came but wasn't turned off at all by it. In fact, I enjoyed it. It gave me a great chance to see him and his school friends at play and have the kids enjoy themselves in a new setting.

Re: ? for those who have DC in preschool regarding birthday party invites
I invited 3 of his friends from last year (who are no longer in his class) by mail, and then I invited 3 boys that he plays with. I just put the invitations in their backpacks. As it is I will have about 20 kids, there was no way I was inviting his entire class.
