For those who have done the 3 Day Potty Training guide..

What was Day 1 like vs Day 2, etc.?

I thought DD would be so easy-- she pees on the potty easily and also hates being in a wet diaper on occasion and is also on the older end.

She's napping now and I wimped out and used a pull up, which she's never seen before so she knows they are not "diapers" per se, but I can't screw with her horrible sleep just yet.

She's not listening to me and does not seem to be "getting it"-- although she's into the underwear.

I haven't done it yet but aren't they supposed to just be around the house w/out any underwear/diapers the first day? At least thats what a few of my friends did and said it worked.

Re: For those who have done the 3 Day Potty Training guide..

I did it last month. DD was a little shy of 2 yrs 5 months.

I did a modified version of the 3 day.

We started on a Sunday (day #1). Did the whole throw the diapers in the garbage thing.

She just wore underwear.

Started when she woke around 730...it was a NIGHTMARE. Everytime she peed it was an accident.

I would bring her to the bathroom on the potty and she would cry, not go, and then 2 seconds later went in the living roomChat Icon
Those first few hrs I almost gave up. Then noon hit...and it CLICKED for her

Chat Icon

Didnt have one accident since then!!!

By Day #2 she completely was going on her own (telling me) with the reward of a lollipop by the 3rd day even better (still used lollipops). By 4th day no rewards needed.

However, I put a pull up on her during naps and at night. (the book say dont). But I didnt listen.

The first 3 days she did go during her nap in the pull up. Now (about a month later) she never goes during a nap and in the morning she wakes up to tell me she has to go (She probably goes like once in the pull up over the night bc it is hardly wet)

Thats how we did it and it worked. Like I said, basically by 1 and a half days she was trained.

Good luck! Takes a lot of patience

Re: For those who have done the 3 Day Potty Training guide..

Huge difference

Day one she peed herself in her undies 4 times in a row, screaming

By day 2, she was letting me know she had to go and we would run to the bathroom

DD doesnt nap so I dont have that issue.

One thing I did do (against the rules) is use a pull up at night for bed. About night... I am sorry but I refused to wake her up at night to pee like the author suggests. Interestingly enough, she was peeing in the pullup at night, but as time went on, started waking and asking to go. Now she may sleep through without peeing at all in the pullup and some nights doesnt even wake to go, holds it entirely.

Just last week did I start using underwear ALL the time, other than night. She uses the toilet fully, even at school, no accidnents. She never has an accident.

My DD got it quickly, I was speechless at how easily it went.

Re: For those who have done the 3 Day Potty Training guide..

thanks-- DH is putting her to bed now and I am POOPED. No pun intended.

She had a couple of accidents, and went the other times-- but is not drinking enough to have to go constantly and can fully go if I am just putting her there, like before nap, etc. I thought it would be so easy because she has been good about peeing on the potty when asked.

Although despite constant reminding-- she won't tell me when she has to go.

I also had to do a pull up so she would poop, because after 5 or 6 attempts throughout the day, she would not poop despite showing all of her signs. Pull up on, one push and poop was out.

I am also doing pulls up at nap and bedtime because I cannot sacrifice her sleep being 31 weeks pregnant. We are also working on getting her to sleep later, or stay in bed til at least 6-- I could not jeopardize that.

I pray tomorrow is better!

Randi, is this day one?

If so, my day one was awful. I was on my hands and knees cleaning up pee all day it seemed. I told DH I could not keep doing this for days. By next day, it was drastically different. Clearly change had occurred. So if this is day one, please dont give up and give in!!!Chat Icon

yes, Day 1.

I hope all of you are right!!!

It will be better over the weekend with DH home. I can't take even the lifting her on the potty.

Anyone find a potty seat that is a little more secure than all the ones in BBB and BRU?

What do you mean? For on the regular toilet? Secure in what way?

I have this one, and it seems they only carry this brand in stores-- and it just doesn't seem sturdy enough for Sasha to climb up and get on herself.

I have been doing my modified version...and i say modified because I didnt have enough underwear the first day, the second day UPS and the new underwear didnt come until 6pmChat Icon the third day (yesterday) and fourth day (today) he was with my mom. I also have certain impediments as he is mostly non-verbal, has therapists all morning who are not on the same page and want to chart him. He also has a cold. And finally, my mom has her own training methodChat Icon

That being said, he is mostly pee trained. He kept Thomas dry all evening and only had one accident today. We are still having some poop issues as he not quite telling us in time that he has to go.

HOWEVER...Day 1 was sheer torture and wished that I only had hardwood floor in all rooms instead of carpet. Hang in there I guarantee it gets better.Chat Icon

In that it will slip off? Does it have a ring that keeps in inside the regular seat? I would think they all do. But regardless, DDs seat has slipped off and she fell trying to reach sideways for toilet paper. So I dont believe any of t hem are that secure. We use a step stool in front of the toilet and DD can pull herself back onto it to go alone if she has to.
