For those who have the 1st Generation iPod Nano!!!
My DH found out online that they are currently replacing the 1st Generation iPod Nanos because of a very rare chance that it could overheat. So far people online have said they have been replaced with the current newest iPod nano!!!
Herei a link to the site where you could request a replacement. My DH did it for me, but I believe the way it works is they send you a box (we just filled it out a few days ago so I'm waiting for my box) and then you send back your iPod and they send you the new model. The only downside is you don't have an option to choose the color and I think you just get silver.. but hey.. it's a free upgrade so who cares!!

i had posted this awhile ago, i got an email from them, so i sent in the request, they sent me a box, i shipped it to them and i got an email today that i should recieve my new one next week

yup we sent mine back but haven't received one back yet. But when my dh called them (weeks ago), he was told that you get a refurbished 1st generation one.
So i'm hoping your info is more correct.

well just plug in the serial number online and it will tell you if you qualify.

I requested my recall box on the first day and just got it the other day. I wanted to wait until after Christmas since it has all of my holiday music on it and I wanted to use it for Christmas Even dinner. But, I am sending it back this week. Hopefully it comes back fast. I also heard it would be another first gen Ipod. Hopefully it's wrong!!

Woohoo! I hope everyone is getting a new one! I would be surprised if Apple even kept that many refurbished 1st gens...what gen. are they on now? Like 8? LOL
