How do you freeze it? Do you put it in containers or ziploc bags? When you take it out to use it, do you defrost it first? If you place it in bags, do you just heat the sauce in the bag? I know these are probably such stupid questions. But I've always cooked to eat same day or refrigerated overnight or for a day or two.

Thanks!

I put them in plastic containers for the freezer. Most of the time I take it out of the freezer, put it under the hot water faucet to loosen it and dump the frozen sauce into a pot and put on low until it is ready. Works perfectly.

I freeze it in containers. I separate the meat into zip lock bags. I try to separate the meat in the bag and freeze it flat so I can pull out what I need

This (or if I remember, I stick it in the fridge for a day until it's loose enough to dump out into the pot).

Re: For those who make and freeze their own sauce

I bought the blue ziplock plastic containers for just my sauce. I either take it out the day before to defrost if I remember, otherwise I plop the frozen sauce into a pan and heat it up till it is all cooked again.

We use old Chinese food containers. We try to remember to defrost, but could just pop out into a pot to reheat from frozen.

I put it in containers as well and take out a day or two before I am going to cook my meal.

I use ziplock bags because my freezer is a side by side with little space.

I usually do ziplock bags but lately been storing them in canning jars the 16oz size. I take the canning jar, take top off and warm it up on the stove with some water. I put the whole jar in water to warm up.

If you use a canning jar how long does it stay fresh for?

I put the sauce in containers. To defrost, I place them in the fridge 24-48 hours before I use them.

This. Also I buy them from the restaurant when we run out. The sell them 4/$1 and I can put them in the door of the freezer so they take up less space.

Wow, thanks everyone for the responses!! Another question: Does your sauce taste differently when frozen/defrosted than when it's made and used right away? This is DH's new gripe with my plan to make and freeze..

I use canning jars as well. The sauce stays just as fresh as the other methods already said.
