For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
Please share your experience and the result. And what age you did it...
We have to do it this weekend. DS is 6 months. Doc says this is about the time babies form habits so it's best to get him into the crib now. We do for some naps, but he doesn't sleep as well/long. Oh-and we also still swaddle him! So afraid to break both habits. He hasn't rolled over yet (he's a big boy... 21lbs 8oz... it's a lot to roll!), so I think I'll put him in the crib swaddled.
Do you think it will work better if I let him fall asleep in the RNP and then pick him up and place him in the crib and hope he stays asleep?

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
DS is 9 months, we switched him from the rock n play sleeper to the crib at 4 months. Honestly, he did fine. DS was never really a good sleeper, he still doesn't sleep through the night. But it didn't get any worse when we switched. We did start him off in the crib for naps only about a week before to get him used to it for shorter periods. Once we did the switch at bedtime, it was harder for me because I missed him being in my room! I can't help with the swaddle, DS hated it so we stopped at 4 weeks. Good luck!

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
We started with the r&p sleeper in our room. At about 4 months we moved into their bedroom just so they would get used to the environment. Then, at 6 months we transferred them to the crib. For a while we were rocking them so sleep and then putting them in. Unfortunately, we had to do CIO for them to sleep in the crib on their own. Good luck!

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
I'm probably no help because we did it at about 6 or 7 weeks. But we started putting DD in her crib for naps. Once she was napping every nap in there comfortably, we started with nights. She had no issues and actually slept much better in her crib.

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
I remember dreading this transition so much. It was a rough first night but he adjusted well. We put him down in his crib swaddled, turned on his mobile and shut the door. He cried for no more than 2 minutes and was out....until 3am.
My story
Within 2 weeks of being in his crib swaddled, he began breaking free from the swaddle. One night we used just the sleepsack. Im not going to sugarcoat it, he was up every hour on the hour that first night. The next night, he was back to his old self and slept all the way through. He has been a great sleeper ever since.
Good luck!!

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
We transitioned DS #to the crib at 5 months . However, I would rock him to sleep or use the Rock N play to put him to sleep. That went on until he was about 1. We stopped swaddling both DS #1 and DS #2 since we felt the RNP provided a cozy space to begin with.
At around 13 monoths I did CIO with him to get him to bed without having to rock him in the RNP or me doing it.
ETA I've been putting DS #2 in the crib for naps but strting tonight I will be getting him into the crib. We'll see how it goes.

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
Dd was in the rnp from birth to 4 months then I transitioned her to the portacrib in our bedroom. She was not being swaddled at the time, but I did go about our bedtime routine the same exact way. I also put her to sleep the same way: kissed her goodnight, laid her down, gave her a binky and put on her musical projector. Within 15 minutes, she was asleep. She slept the entire night, but woke up a few times for her binky, which she never did in the rnp. I've been napping her in her regular crib so when I'm ready to move her, I will move the projector in there. I would definitely leave your ds swaddled for now but I would avoid rocking if possible. From what I hear, it's a difficult habit to break. Good luck!!!

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
We did it at 3 months and she did as well as could be expected. She went from being up many times a night in the RnP to being up many times a night in the crib. She did seem to like it and the ability to stretch out (she never liked being swaddled). DD is almost 11 months and STILL doesn't go to sleep without nursing or the use of her swing though.

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
I found this way easiest and did it around 12 weeks. She was previously sleeping in the rock &play, and could only sleep on an incline. So how i tricked her was putting the boppy pillow in the crib. After she was asleep in my arms, I put her in the boppy. She was still on an incline and didn't know the difference. I stayed in her room a few mins while she got into a deeper sleep, then gently removed the boppy and layed her flat down. This went on for about a week. Then she was able to lay flat, w/o boppy. It was a weird transition to use the boppy but it worked.

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
I was SOOOO nervous about this. I was dreading it. We did it around 6 months.
One night we just did it. I think I let her fall asleep on the boppy on the couch next to me- then I picked her up and instead of putting her in the rock n play like usual I just put her in the crib.
She slept GREAT. I was shocked.
I feel like she slept so much better in her crib- less grunting etc
I really think she was too confined in the RNP and in the crib she had room to move around and stretch out.
Shortly after she slept through the night for the first time ever!

Re: For those who transitioned from the Rock N Play sleeper to crib...
We just did it over this past weekend on her 4 month birthday (Saturday). She took all naps in her crib starting that morning, and then went down for the night in her crib. She definitely didn't nap WELL, but honestly I think that helped her when bedtime came that night bc she was so tired. She woke up 1x during the night, around 11:30pm, i went in and put the paci in her mouth and she then slept til 7:30am. Naps have gotten better over the past several days. She woke up 3x last night though, but nothing that necessitated taking her out of the crib - just paci and belly rubs.
She is not swaddled and has been sttn since around 6 or 8 weeks (i don't remember anything anymore lol).
