For those who used regular bumpers and then removed them?

For those who used regular bumpers and then removed them?
We just lowered DS's mattress and took out the bumper and mobile and put in the Rainforest Soother. I put him to bed at 7:30 p.m. and he went to bed great - didn't seem to miss them. I feel so bad though... like I took away his "friends" the dinosaurs who he used to talk to in his crib.... 
Did anyone's DC miss the bumper when you took it out? Did they have trouble adjusting to the "enclosed" feeling the bumper gives to seeing outside of the crib through the bars??? (I hope this makes sense!)

DS actually slept great last night, so I guess I was more attached to the dinosaurs than he was!
