Re: For those who went to Vegas..
I've stayed at and liked:
New York, New York Caesar's Palace The Mirage
If you want to spend a little more: Bellagio The Venetian

Re: For those who went to Vegas..
I like Mandalay Bay and the Venetian best. I've also stayed at the Hard Rock and Caesars, I guess it depends on what kind of place you're looking for.

Re: For those who went to Vegas..
Depends on your budget.
MGM always gives me great deals and it is a nice, clean hotel. It is HUGE though and takes a while to walk from your room to outside the hotel.
New York is smaller, nice but kind of chintsy.
Bellagio is amazing but $$. Same with Venetian, although every room in the Venetian is a mini suite with lots of amenities.
Caesers is nice too but it is getting older and the rooms need to be remodeled. They are a little older looking. (the last time I stayed there)
I don't like the Luxor, it is run down and the layout is SO awkward because of the pyramid style of the hotel.
Yeah, I have been to Vegas a few times

Re: For those who went to Vegas..
Whatever you do DON'T stay at the Tropicana!
If you don't want to spend $$$ stay at Harrah's. It's a good location on the strip and not disgusting.

Re: For those who went to Vegas..
i've stayed at the Flamingo which is in the middle of the strip. Its a decent hotel. Im sure there are nicer, but I cant complain about the amenities or the pool, etc.
the bellagio looks amazing but probably $$$$$

We stayed at the MGM and loved it there! It was at the end of the strip so it was a little less expensive but still in walking distance to most places we wanted to visit.
ETA: DH stayed at Mirage which is a bit more centrally located.

Re: For those who went to Vegas..
I've stayed at the Venetian, Harrah's and Mandalay Bay.
Venetian was gorgeous and not in a bad location.
Harrah's was on the cheaper side and I really loved the location...walking distance of everything I felt.
Mandalay Bay - very nice hotel and room...just way down on the one end of the strip. You had to take the bus to get to things cause walking in heels was not an option.

Re: For those who went to Vegas..
I've stayed at the following:
Hilton Luxor Excalibur Rio Planet Hollywood
I loved the Rio the most, even though it is off strip. The rooms were great, the atmosphere was fun.
Luxor is very nice. The first time we stayed there we asked for an upgrade and got a suite with a jacuzzi in it.
Hilton is nice, but offstrip.
Planet Hollywood was nice, but the room was small in my opinion.
Excalibur is nice, but ask for the tower that was remodeled. We just stayed in the tower that wasn't and it was eh.
My parents stayed at Bellagio which is gorgeous. But too fancy for us. LOL.

My fave is the Palazzo! Rooms are awesome, tons of good restaurants/shopping and IMO, best location to everything else!

Re: For those who went to Vegas..
We stayed at the MGM.
Hotel was nice but the place was WAYYYY too big, I thought.
It took like 20 minutes to walk to the pool. And God forbid you forgot something in your room.
My 2 items of advice: * Don't go in the summer (we went in August. OMG)
* Have the buffet at the Rio...delish.

Re: For those who went to Vegas..
We stayed sort of off the strip...but not really...
It's the MGM Signature, behind the MGM Grand....the rooms are AMAZING, we had a view of the strip, and to get to the strip, we walked through a covered walkway, with people movers, into the MGM and out to the strip...was about a 5 minute walk...but SO worth it....we were close to the "action", but when we'd had enough, we retreated to our oasis...a little bar AND a Starbucks in the Signature were the perfect way to start/end the day, and the jacuzzi tub, plush bed and flat screen TV were SO awesome...
We booked through vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) since a lot of the suites are owned by people who rent them....We ended up paying about $100/night....

The Venetian Mandalay Bay is also one of my favorites, but it's kind of far.
