For those who work full-time

I'm just kind of curious if there is anything such as a 40 hr work week anymore. Most people I know work way more.

40 hours with the very rare OT & usually just 2 hours tops. My boss freaks if we do OT

Re: For those who work full-time

I'm usually 40 (state worker Chat Icon ) but I do work the occasional night/weekend. I also teach though (college) so I take home work and am always grading/answering emails.

Re: For those who work full-time

At my old job I worked 37.5 hours a week. They would rather you leave early then have to pay you any overtime- and everyone except managers were paid hourly. And this was at a big newspaper company.

Re: For those who work full-time

I don't work FT, but FH has never had a job where the workweek was under 50 hours. At his first job it was 60+

Re: For those who work full-time

I have to work a 40 hr week. The higher ups were getting quite ticked that I was doing 40 + at least 10 hrs OT a week and they are cutting back on the OT. So they have been watching me and my hours.

Today my boss even reminded me at 5:20 dont forget you work till 5:30 so whatever you dont get done today we can work on organizing for you tomorrow. Ok so does that mean you'll answer my according to the phone reports 50 calls a day that I get Chat Icon

My official work week is 37.5 hours a week but that does not include the early closing we get on Fridays. It's probably more like 35-37.

THis is what I worked when I was FT. In my next job, I only billed 40 hours but worked a heck of a lot more! Now I am SAHM and I'm always on the clock.

Re: For those who work full-time

Another state worker here, so 40 hours is about it. I have to say though that I miss having a more involved job that I didn't mind working longer hours for. I'd rather be very busy than have things kind of slow.

Re: For those who work full-time

37.5 is what I think it works out to be officially. But I'm always here an hour early doing work and stay an hour late doing work. But I answered officially for the poll as less than 40 a week.
