for those with "older" kids... at what age did you stop?

at what age did you stop allowing your child in the bathroom while you used the toilet?

and did the gender of your child play a role in the age at which you stopped?

had a conversation with a family member and we had different opinions.

DD is 8 and she still walks in on me in the bathroom all the time, I do not get any privacy. I lock the door if it is anything but pee pee.

My DS is almost 4 and he still comes in with me at times....I really never thought anything of it at this age ...A matter of fact, when we are shopping or at a restaurant, technically I wouldn't have a choice regardless because he is just too young to wait for me outside of the stall...

Guess that might not have answered your question though

I have girls. 6 1/2 and 12 and although my 12 year old needs plenty of privacy these days, she forgets that once in a while I'd like the same consideration. Chat Icon Chat Icon

We are a pretty open family. However, I would not allow boys of the same ages to be in the bathroom with me. In addition, my kids haven't been in the bathroom with their father in years and years. So, yeah gender definitely matters in our home.

I stopped about 4 for both my son & my daughter.

However, I will take them in a one stall bathroom now (aged 6 & almost 8) for all of us to go but we all face a wall while the other one goes for privacy. It's not ideal but I can't see leaving them alone while I have to go.

Jared goes with me to the bathroom when we're out. I won't let him leave the stall. He walks in on me when I'm in the bathroom at home. I have to say privacy please and then he walks out. I HAVE to lock the door because he will walk in and then Nikolas will follow and then I have a parade in the bathroom. I especially don't need them seeing me changing pads...Chat Icon
