For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
If you had your DC sleeping in the FP newborn rock n play sleeper pretty much exclusively, when did you transition to the crib or PnP?
DH just pointed out that our 5 1/2-week old hasn't slept a single night anywhere but in the sleeper yet. She's just so comfy in there and the ped said it was a great angle for her to sleep at, so we figured we'd leave her there.
Not that I want to change things yet (she's so young still) but I'm wondering what other parents have done as far as getting their babies to sleep on a flat surface after a good amount of time sleeping at an angle since birth. And of course when you went to make the change.
TIA!

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
We just made the transition from the rock n play to the crib (my daughter is 7 weeks and has only slept in the sleeper at night since the hospital) and it went really well. I was worried because I had heard it was a hard transition for some babies, but surprisingly it went perfectly! I wish I could help you more but we just gave it a try and it has worked out so far (knock on wood!)

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
DS is 6 months and he is still in his
He is just so cozy and comfortable and he sleeps 15 hours a night in it. He hates his crib and I know we have to transition him soon - it's just hard!

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
Honestly, I wouldn't wait longer than 3 months to make the transition. DS was 5 months and it took WEEKS to get him sleeping comfortably on a flat surface, it was a nightmare. We never did get him in his crib, we ended up co-sleeping.
Another thing, be careful with too much time in the sleeper because it can cause a really bad flat spot. Do a lot of tummy time

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
I'm not going to lie.. it was torture transitioning out of the FP sleeper.. it was a GODSEND while she was a newborn, she slept amazingly in it. We tried at 2 months to put her in the crib and it was a bomb... she still had those newborn reflexes that woke her up. It went much better at 3 months. She does sleep better in the sleeper <we let her sleep in it "on the go" and when she's sick> but the warning says not to let them sleep in it if they try to sit up while in it <which she does>.
It helped that we napped her in the crib beginning at 2 months... she got used to it that way..

I think 4-5 months.
He transitioned pretty well to the crib just took a bit. Also towards the end we angled him on his side a little so his head would not get a flat spot and did a ton of tummy time.

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
At five months we were still in it because like others said, the second we tried to put him on a flat surface like the crib he would scream but we had no choice but to take him out because his head started to take the shape of the stupid thing. Not just flat, but flat and angled! He wouldn't sleep in the crib so for the past month we have been cosleeping. It's not ideal for us but I also need sleep. We are going to start CIO to get him into the crib when he turns 6 months in a few days.

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
She slept in it for the first 4 months or so. I would have transitioned to the crib earlier- but it was hot this summer and there's no AC in her room so she slept in the Sleeper in our room.
I had no issues transitioning to the crib

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
This is a really great question b/c it's something I stressed over as well....her never sleeping flat and how would she do in her crib.
I tried her in her crib at 3 mos old after sleeping every day/night in the Rock and Play Sleeper. It was a torturous night...every move she made I jumped up and ran into her room to peak at her. I realized she was too small still and just not ready for that much space...so back to the rocker she went. After a few more nights I realized I needed her to get used to sleeping flat so I moved the pack and play into my room...she slept in there for maybe a few weeks in the bassinet part...she moved a lot and it kept me up a lot checking her. Once she was 4 mos I could tell she was ready for the crib. It wasn't bad for her - it was bad for me b/c I stared at the monitor all night long the first few nights. I still had her swaddled so that helped but once she was rolling over no more swaddle. She did ok.
So my answer is by 4 mos she was sleeping flat in the crib. Maybe try napping her on a flat surface to get her used to it. But your DD is still so young...if she loves the sleeper I wouldn't worry about transitioning her just yet. They are totally so cozy in there. I miss it and wish I could still use it for trips and stuff.

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
Until Almost 6 months old!! It was easier for me to haver her in our room until that point. Then her sleepign became awful and I just put her in the crib- reluctantly- but it was the best thing ever. We haven't looked back.

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
We moved DS at the 3 month mark into his crib. He slept in the rock n play the first 2 months in our room and then in the swing in his room for a month because he slept amazing in that and we needed sleep BIG TIME!
The first night we just winged it and it was a disaster, he was up the entire night. 2nd night we swaddled with the miracle blanket and he slept great every night.
He is now almost 5 months and as of last week we are swaddle free.
It really depends on the baby IMO. Some take a while to transition to something new and within a few days they will get better and some can do it with no problem.

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
We transitioned DS to his crib around 4-5 months. He's going to be 10 months old and since he's still slightly under the 25lb limit sometimes we use it to get him to sleep at night

Re: For those with the FP newborn rock n play sleeper
we used it until just under 3 months. It was an easy transition to her co-sleeper, and then to her crib in her own room.
