Formula-does anyone switch back and forth
between brands? Last time I went to the PED I asked if I could switch DS back to similac. she said of course, she doesn't have a problem w/ people switching back and forth depending on whats on sale a lot of parents do that.
I'm asking bc I just got 2 cans of enfamil (in the mail- he was on that originally) and I"m thinking I will use those up. Even tho my PED said it's ok, I was just wondering if you ladies had any thoughts?

Re: Formula-does anyone switch back and forth
I think its fine to switch from Enfamil to Similac, as long as its the same type of formula. I wouldnt' switch from Enfamil Lipil to Similac Sensitive (as an example).

Re: Formula-does anyone switch back and forth
I had spoken with our pediatrician on this as well. He was completely fine with us switching because DD had no reaction issues (I know she was over 9 mos when I had asked). But I never did it so I can't tell you from experience that there were no issues

I won't only beacuse it took us so long to find one that he tolerates well. I can't even give him the powder because it makes him so gassy. I wish I could, I'm sure it would save a lot of $$ to be able to buy whats on sale!!

Re: Formula-does anyone switch back and forth
DS was on Enfamil, but I would use Similac sometimes when we went out because I could reseal the small 8 oz. bottles of Similac if I was out somewhere and stick it in the bottle bag to keep it cool to finish later. Enfamil only came in cans at that size.
I also used the similac powder I got as samples as the formula I added to his cereal as he got older. I never had a problem with either.

..try different brands when he is older when intestines mature. This is what I did and now I can use the tons of samples I have...LOL

Re: Formula-does anyone switch back and forth
I agree with PP, I think its fine as long as its in the same ‘family’. Like AJ uses Enfamil Gentlease so I cant even switch her back to the yellow canned Enfamil Lipil cause it upsets her, but I’m pretty sure I can bounce the same type of formula in Similac if I needed to.
Until we went on to the Gentlease my pedi said the same thing “Hold onto those samples you get, just have her use those when she’s in daycare so there’s no waste” but now that she’s on Gentlease that isn’t possible. But I do use Generic from time to time.
