Formula Question--Warning: Very stupid Q!!

Ok, so when I make formula for DD (we have been exclusively breastfeeding up until a few weeks ago so pardon my ignorance) the instructions say to measure the water first in the bottle, and then add the scoops of powder. If I put in 6 oz of water, but then the three scoops of powder that the package calls for bumps it up to 7oz... does that mean my DD is drinking 6 or 7 oz of formula?

I'm sorry for the stupid question!!

And BTW...that was not the stupidest formula question, right Liza?

Not a dumb question, do you mean after you shake it up?

Usually after I let it sit for a few minutes it goes back down to 6oz, so I've been considering it 6oz

I know what she means, for me, when I put 6 ozs of water and then the 3.5 scoops and shake it up, even after it settles it is more like 7ozs due to the powder being added

Re: Formula Question--Warning: Very stupid Q!!

I consider it to be whatever the amount of water I put in since the instructions say to make a 2 oz, 4 oz, 6oz, 8oz, bottle, etc you add "xx" amount of scoops.

My thinking as well...I'd suggest make it according to the package and see how much your child takes from that bottle. If she is finishing it up - perfect...if not maybe consider making a little less by adding less water (and scoops - but still according to the package).
