Foundation Brush
Does anyone apply foundation (cream or liquid) using a brush? I've heard it's supposed to be better than using fingers, so I tried. It looked awful. Is there a special technique? I am so disappointed

Re: Foundation Brush
I do that every day. I like that it spreads it evenly and I use way less than I would with a sponge. A little goes a long way.
I've been using a brush for years. I put a little on the brush and hit four spots, each cheek, forehead and chin and blend down and around.
I recommend proper moisturization though.

Re: Foundation Brush
I use a brush. When I got my foundation at MAC they taught me how to put it on and recommended I use a brush.

I use a brush. You get a more even coverage using one.

Re: Foundation Brush
Yes, I only use a brush now. What brush are you using? The brush itself can make a difference. I find my MAC brush and believe it or not ELF cosmetics $1 brush to be my favorites.
Also, are you letting the foundation dry before applying over the first layer? Otherwise you are just moving around the first layer.

Re: Foundation Brush
I never thought to do this with liquid, but it does work I use a foundation brush to apply my Garnier BB cream. But then in areas I need a bit more coverage I use my finger to dot some more on and blend. The brush, for me, gives a more sheer coverage.

Re: Foundation Brush
Thanks for all of replies. I'm using a brush from Duane Reade. I think maybe I was using too much. I had an allergic reaction to a moisturizer sample I tried, when that clears up, I'll try again.

Re: Foundation Brush
I just stared using a brush (and different foundation) and my skin has never looked better. I use Mary Kay primer first though, which I think helps it go on smooth (depending on what of skin you have). And as a PP said, moisturized skin is key.
I am using all Mary Kay stuff right now..including the brush which i think was $10 and looks like a fan brush.

Re: Foundation Brush
I use powder foundation now, but when I used liquid - I LOVED the sponge wedges.
They gave me the most even coverage...

Re: Foundation Brush
I do both--when in a rush in the morning, I use my fingers. When I'm doing a better job and want more even coverage, I use a brush I purchased from Clinique with my foundation.

Re: Foundation Brush
I use a brush and make sure to blend well. Moisturizing right before applying is also very important. In fact, most of the time I just mix my foundation with a little moisturizer and bend it into my face all together.

Re: Foundation Brush
Definitely get a brush. The sponges are crap. They soak up all the product.
