Freaked out last night- IVF related...
Hey ladies, So im starting to prepare myself for IVF. Last night DH and I sat down and watch some clips of administering the injections. I was fine with the smaller one up until I saw the 1.5 inch needles. I FREAKED. I just started crying and telling DH I WILL not go through it. I dont know what it is with me, I have this huge fear that something will go wrong I was reading on the over stimulation and that made me freak out more...
I dont know if I can do this IVF... Im so scared- I know I may be over reacting. Ive always accepted the fact that I will need IVF to get preganant since I was like 15. And I was fine... until it finally its becoming real...
any words of advice? Im sorry ladies I dont mean to be the "baby" and cry over stupid stuff...

Re: Freaked out last night- IVF related...
First, I wish you the moment where you have peace in whatever you decide to do.
Basically, I think you are totally normal to be freaked. Some of us react that way to what is a very significant process being done to our bodies. If you have questions, call your RE. He or she should be able to answer your questions and perhaps alleviate your concerns. I had a friend who had a very hard time with the needles. So her husband helped her with every shot..... they got through it together!!!!!
Four years ago I met my DH. He had a vasectomy before we met, so we decided early on we would do reversal and natural TTC or adoption. At one point I went to an RE two years ago to see if I could do that instead of the reversal. OMG.... I freakedout!!!!! So many things scared me about IVF and I literally had an anxiety attack over it. We did the reversal, it failed. After that I went to a new RE who knew I was undecided about IVF. For some reason, this time around I felt differently about it and am just starting my first IVF cycle now. You will figure out what works best for you.
I wish you luck!!!!

All I can say is that it's a little scary and overwhelming at first, but you get the hang of things really fast. Just take it one day, one medication- one injection at a time. It's not easy, but could be completely worth it.

It does seems soooo overwhelming! Try to take it one step at a time a remember what your goal is here... a beautiful baby! Hang in there. I think there are so many emotions we go through with infertility and that in itself is just draining. You always have the boards to vent to and we are all praying for you!!!!!You can do it!!!!!!!!

Re: Freaked out last night- IVF related...
I was in the same boat a few months ago. We met our IVF RE, hated him and that sent me into full panic/anxiety mode. I couldn't do it. So we took a step back, visited a new practice and moved ahead with a few more medicated IUI's. Now, we are ready. You HAVE to do this all at your own pace, be comfortable and ready in your mind and heart. It is a big deal and there are a lot of emotions attached to it!

Re: Freaked out last night- IVF related...
it's not stupid stuff. We grew up thinking shots=doctor, nurse, medical professional. I think when I get there, I'm gonna be scared as hell too!!!!!
But knowledge is power. There are ANY videos on youtube on how to do injections, so maybe give yourself a day or two and then check out some blogs and videos. If your urge to have a baby is strong enough, you will overcome your fears. Good luck

I stick needles in people all the time, but have a REALLY hard time doing it to myself. If anyone's around... I have them do it.
Honestly, long needles look a lot more scary, but don't necessarily hurt more.
You'll get there!

What you are feeling is normal. IVF can be scary at first but you will find the strength to go through it. Just keep your eye on the prize. You can do it!

I think everyone feels like that...the reality that you need to stick yourself or be stuck with these needles. But I can tell you is that they are not bad at all..even the bigger needle size does not hurt...just ice long enough ;) good luck!
