Random question for the night - gender related
And then I am off to bed.
Do you feel like when you find out that you are having a girl you buy more pink related items - then if you find out you are having a boy w/ buying blue items.
When I found out Jack was a boy - I decided to go with the neutral things - swing - pack and play - bouncers - glider - stroller - carseat etc. Everything except his bedding is pretty much neutral - for hopefully future babies.. His room is a boys room.
Now, I feel like I have been to a few showers where they know they are having girls - and EVERYTHING is pink. Bouncy, highchair, PNP you name it.
Is it just that girl stuff is so irresistable that you get everything pink? I think I would maybe be the same way if I had a girl.
Just curious!

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
We found out that we were having a girl, but decided that all the big items should be gender neutral so they can be used on future children. But that being said we got a ton of pink clothes. My DH said he's sick of everything pink. So I went out this past week and bought some other colored outfits.

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
all of our big items are neutral. I got sick of pink really quick, even though she will most likely be our only child.

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
I knew I was having a girl, but I picked out neutral stuff (bedding, stroller, carseat, swing, bouncy, excersaucer, etc) in case I ever have a boy....
I was very tempted to go with the pink/girly stuff because it was so cute, but I decided to be practical

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
DH and I did find out what we were having but I already had the pattern i wanted for my stroller and car seat (graco devon) and i ended up getting the FP rainforrest swing and jumper which are all pretty neutral to me.
The same can not be said about her clothing....my family went NUTS with pink and purple. And her room is VERY girly but that's the fun of having a little girl

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
We were so sure we were having a boy - and went all gender-neutral.
But since having DD, you KNOW almost everyting is girly. I am glad we did it this way tho - now I can sahre all my "big" items with friends - who all seem to be having boys!!

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
We knew we were having a girl (but kept it a secret anyway), but we got all gender neutral items for the big things (car seat, stroller, etc.). We did buy some pink things for smaller stuff...mainly blankets, boppy cover, etc.

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
We bought all neutral stuff when we found out we were having a boy, nothing blue. I know a few girls who registered for EVERYTHING pink!! Carseat, stroller, bouncer,pack/play etc. If DC is a boy next time, they will need all new stuff~

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
All big items are neutral. The only blue is bedding, his clothes, blankets and art work. I did not even paint the room. I used art work to decorate.

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
I knew we were having a boy, but went with green everything. Green is my fav color and I would have done the same with a girl. We have a green PNP and high chair, but my living room/ dr are green.
Although we got lots of blue blankets, a blue bumbo seat etc and I now think blue looks great, too. I'm excited to plan his "big boy rooom" with a blue nautical theme.
When I registered for green my thinking was we would not need to replace too much for baby #2. Who wants to go out and get a new PNP etc?

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
I knew i was having a girl and as i look around at her stuff, not much is girlie except her bedding, and a walker (pink car). Otherwise everything is gender neutral. If i was to have a boy next just have to buy him bedding and cloths pretty much. The big problem we would have is if i had a boy is the room.. They would have to share and its pink w/ periwinkle purple rug. I told my dh we may have to switch rooms with them, since our room is green with brown rug.

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
Well, because we were having both we went gender neutral on all of the big items... the nursery and bedding is a light green gingham.
If my last pregnancy was a singleton baby, I would have registered for/bought all gender neutral big items anyway so they could be used for any additional children... I would have decorated the according to gender.
If we were having two boys or two girls I would have gone all pink or all blue with decorating as we are only planning on having two children.

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
I think there is way more pink on the radar than blue. I was just thinking of our "big" stuff and it is all pretty gender neutral (Chris complains that our snugride was purple, it was the only non plaid one I could find!)
Summer and I were talking about the Graco ComforSport yesterday, the girls ones are SOO cute and the boy ones/gender neutral look like an ugly recliner from the 70's

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
Well with me... My favorite colors are Red and Blue... I believe they are both gender neutral, lol..
I have a Red/black stroller a Blue/black car seat, Playpen I have the Malawi one which is neutral I believe even though it has blue in it. Bouncy and High Chair are gender neutral.
The only mistake I did was buying a boys bedding set. I couldn't make up my mind when I was shopping for it. Should have gotten Malawi or something like that.
When I have a girl ( ) I will most likely go crazy buying dresses and pink clothes

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
we went gender neutral with all of the big things b/c there aren't really any boy type big things kwim? i loved the cherry blossom set from graco, but obviously its for a girl so that wouldn't work. i'm happy that we have neutral items b/c we can use it for all of the future kids - his bedding is neutral too b/c the nursery is painted brown (husb was too lzay to change the office color...lol)

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
With Jeremy, we did not find out what we were having. I registered for everything gender neutral, with the exception of the bedding. I had picked out a boy set and a girl set then my mom picked up whichever one I had (she and my in-laws split my bedding and my layette ). Now we will need to get a complete new bedroom set since DS will still be in his crib. Thankfully my friend is planning to put her kids into beds before I am due. The problem is DS is still little so I will need a double stroller anyway. As far as the car seats, we have 2 so that will be fine. When baby #2 moves out of the baby seat into the convertible seat, I will move both seats to my car.

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
I personally prefer the look of more gender neutral items such as the PNP, stroller and carrier. I didn't know what I was having so I registered and bought all gender neutral things anyway, but even if I did know what I was having I wouldn't have gotten pink everything (and like you said, for future babies too).

Re: Random question for the night - gender related
Well, we had decided before we even found out what we were having to get mostly gender neutral items since we will have more than 1 child- and would want to re-use what we got for DD. Once we found out it was a girl- we still stayed that way. The only things that aren't gender neutral were the bedding, and the baby papasan seat. Other than that everything else (stroller, car seats, swings, etc) are gender neutral!
