Does anyone know any places that you can cut down your own tree? DH and I were thinking of doing that this weekend. TIA

Baiting Hollow Nursery
Take William Floyd to Northern, make a right, then make a left at Sound Ave,
There will be a big sign for the turnoff for the farm, a right turn, then farm on the left.
All trees $30.
We go every year. We went last weekend and had a GREAT time!
They close at 4!

Re: fresh cut Xmas trees
We went to NF PReserve..they have 2 different locations.
One is MUCH bigger. They both have white fences in front of them. I think ours cost 60, which included the tax.

Re: fresh cut Xmas trees
this might sound like a silly question, but do they cut the tree down in front of you, or do you actually have to saw it yourself???

You can do whichever you prefer.
We found ours and then asked the guy to do it for us.
But, they will give you the saw if you want to do it yourself.

Re: fresh cut Xmas trees
Ok dumb question since I never did this. Do you actually go and CUT the tree or do you pick it out and someione comes and cuts it for you. And if you do cut it yourself do you need to bring a saw and everything ?? I actually wanted to do this but wasnt sure.
Thanks

you can do either. THey will give you a saw when you get theer if you want to cut it yourself.
A lot of them have tractor rides out to the farms..you pick out your tree and tehy will bring it back on the tractor with you
its a really fun thing to do I think

Re: fresh cut Xmas trees
We go to Shamrock every year for the last three years. We pick the tree and they come and cut it, trim it and bale it. They even tie it to the car for you...then we go have lunch somewhere nice(usually Cooperidge Inn)

Re: fresh cut Xmas trees
We've been going to the same tree farm for a looooooong time - since I was a little kid. Yu have to cut the tree down yourself. We usually bring a saw, but they also have some you can borrow.
