We have friends who are name droppers. I just accept that's how they are and it makes me laugh b/c it's ridiculous. IMO, it's silly to talk about how you're going to such and such club, vacation, restaurant, etc. Who cares?

When I was planning my wedding. I had friends that tried to always brag about their weddings from years past. There is only so many times a person can hear the same story.

I have one friend like this but it's not about monetary things (since neither of us have $). She is CONSTANTLY talking about her body, how thin she is, how this guy hit on her, the comments she's gotten.
While I adore her, but she wears on me. I've got about 35 lbs on her - - and really I don't need to hear how the new guy she's dating things she's hot...

i really dont like braggers
thankfully none of my friends are like that.
i can tell you, though, that we have very successful friends - and i strive to be successful like them-however they do NOT brag- if anything they are very generous and humble

I have a friend who was like this. It affected our friendship at one point because she was so concerned with outward appearances, I felt like there was nothing deeper for me to get to know. Since I confronted her on it and since she got married, she's sooooooooo much better!

I don't have friends who brag, but DH has a relative that does. In the end, it just seems like they are insecure about their lives to have to talk it up so much. It's kind of embarassing actually when it's happening, you want them to just stop.

I know people like this, and I feel bad for them. I've always felt that if you have so many things, qualities, etc, then let them speak for itself. I see it as them trying too hard to gain "status", and need more help than materialistic things & bragging would bring.

I do notice this though.....the ones that brag DONT think they are doing anything wrong...BUT they will be the first to comment on someone else who is bragging...
