From crib to Toddler sized bed, or regular twin sized bed?

HELP! DS climbed out and we have #2 on the way. Was already planning on moving DS, but now...I have to!!

What did you do you do? If it matters DS will be 18 months, and is over 36" tall.

We did a toddler bed but will be upgrading to a twin shortly as my DD tosses and turns a lot and I think wakes herself more in the smaller bed.

We switched DD to a toddler bed because the new baby was coming and already upgraded to a twin. She really outgrew the toddler bed fast. I used to hear her banging against the sides of it in the middle of the night. Now we have a twin with the rails on it. I wish we had just skipped the toddler bed all together.

We are doing a twin bed, DS is 18 months (32 inches) and the new baby will be here next week. We decided it didn't make sense to get the toddler bed since he would outgrow it.

DD climbed at once at 18 mths. and never again. So you never know. I didnt convert her crib to the toddler bed til she was like 3.5 yrs old. Then after a few mths we went to the twin.

DD's crib converted to a toddler and to a full size bed. We skipped the toddler, and went right to the full bed without any problems. DD was almost 3 at the time.
