Re: Front Load Washer and Dryer
I recently bought an energy star Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer. I love them! They one of the very few top loaders that are HE and energy efficient. We've seen our water and electric bill go down since we had them installed in March.

Love my front loader. Uses less water, less detergent, is gentler on your clothes... I have a Kenmore Elite He3T.

Re: Front Load Washer and Dryer
we have the whirlpool cabrio also. LOVE them!! we have the top load washer and front load dryer... but they are both HE. love the HE- saves so much water and electric. and i love that our washer doesn't have the center agitator thing, so you can fit a TON of stuff in one load. that saves time, too!

I have the duet also and i LOVE them. We were limited on space and we had an old school stacked washer and dryer and switching was the best thing we could have ever done!

Re: Front Load Washer and Dryer
This is funny because my friend has the LG ones and her washer stinks like mold! They are so airtight that if you close the door they smell. I like my regular one much better than hers. I also feel the loads take forever in the front loaders.

Re: Front Load Washer and Dryer
We have the Kitchenaid front loaders and I love them, the only downside is the washer gets musty smelling so you have to make sure and keep the door open after you do a load so it dries out properly. They sell a cleaner that you run through the machine by running the cycle which keeps it smelling nice and clean.
They use a lot less water and detergent!

I didn't want to deal with having to keep the front loader door open all the time just to let it air out. With a top loader I don't have that problem.

Re: Front Load Washer and Dryer
And take a look at the washers with the steam cycle. Some even come with a matching steam dryer.

My cousin has the LG ones also, same as mine, and she says her towels smell musty/moldy and so does her washer!? I don't have this problem, but I always leave the washer doro open after a wash for a bit, and she also used the wrong soap for awhile (non-HE).

Front loaders may have a problem with mold. Depends on the detergent used. I leave my door open for a while so it will dry out...

My top loader is HE. When we were looking, I found that the top loaders we were looking at vs the front loaders had more cubic space inside (obviously without the agitator)
