what about working for the disabled? IGHL is always hiring and they give benefits to full and part timers. ighl.org

honestly can't think of anything that wouldn't require some computer skills - Does your library offer any classes in computers - usually they are cheap or free.
I heard Starbucks offers health insurance? that was a while ago I heard that - I'm not sure if its still true....

She can also try other companies for the disabled - they're all over the island and, like IGHL, for a DCC (direct care counselor) the only requirement is a HS diploma or equivalent. They do training there.

Nassau AHRC is always hiring direct care counselors...very little pay, a lot of grunt work, great benefits though.

Has she considered being a teacher's aid for the disabled? She should look into paraprofessional positions at special schools like the Henry Viscardi School. (Google it) The paras there get full benefits (same as the teachers), can work summers, too, if they want, etc. It's a very nice job.

Teacher's aide is a great idea..
Also warehouse work. For example we have a warehouse here and people do order picking, putting together sets, etc. It's full time, decent pay and comes with benefits.

I work for a home care agency and they are always hiring. We have locations all across LI, in the city, Westchester, Jersey and Upstate. She'd have to go through the home health aide training though and I don't know how often they do them..........
