fungal infection and i feel awful for her! (long sorry)

so i had written last wk before going to the doc about thinking dd had a fungal infection ....turns out she did....doc gave us a sample of Vusion cream and everything looked like it was clearing up....but after the sample was finished the doc had said that the Vusion med was expensive and she would write a script for Nystatin instead.....so i filled that script for the Nystatin and started it on Saturday....its now going on four days using it and it looks like the infection is actually coming back.... i called the doc telling them the situation and the doc called in to the pharm for Vusion turns out its going to only be $8 with our ins plan (thank God) but I feel like a horrible mommy for not just telling the doc to write the script for the Vusion in the first place now my poor dd is screaming again with each diaper change and we are back to square one

any fungal infection btdt moms that the infection was really hard to treat? and how long did it actually take from start to finish/for it to go away completely?

my DD has had this really bad in the past...been on nystatin, vusion and ultimately needed diflucan by mouth to get rid of it. my only advice would be that if it doesn't go away soon (like within a few dyas of starting back on teh vusion) to call/go back to teh doctor for something stronger. hope she feels better soon!

I'm sorry for your little one.....

My dd got constant fungal infections until she was potty trained. Not sure why some kids get them more often then others.

I loved the vusion, but for us we had to pay 90.00 dollars for it. My doc gave us clotrimaole /betamethasone and it worked well.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over it....sometimes it trial and error to figure out what works. I did find that I had to constantly use triple paste with every diaper change as a preventive measure and although my dd still got fungal infections.....this helped her get them much less than if I didnt use it.

Thats stinks! My son had lots of fungal infections when he was a baby, but thank goodness here in the UK all prescriptions for under 16's are free, so we didn't have to pay anything. I hope she is better soon!

Aww I feel so bad for your little one. I have BTDT. My DD has has several. For her the Vusion works wonders. I see a noticable change only after a couple treatments. Try to give her some diaper free time too.

Oh Jen! You didn't know! And the doc gave you something that was thought to be comparable. Don't beat yourself up over it. Now you have the stuff that you know works, so Kaylie will be feeling better in now time!!
