Funny after fallout from the whole plastic bottle controversy.....

OK- so i went out on a whim and replaced DD's Avent bottles with the glass evenflo bottles- i figured, 'eh they aren't that much $$$- lets give it a whirl'

well- go figure she likes them better AND spits up less with them.... Figures- the $$$ Avent bottles that I have literally invested $100+ in between sterlizer, stage 1-2-&3 nipples, 4 ounce bottles, 9ounce bottles, etc- don't agree with DD as much as the $6 for a 3-pack bottles and the $3.00 for 4 replacement nipple bottles- UNBELIEVABLE!!

i guess there is that lesson again- just because something SAYS it's great doesn't mean it will work for your DC....

now- what do I do w/ all the Avent bottles?

Throw them out.

I haven't had ANY problems with the glass (we used them from the start).

That's a great idea! But can you donate used bottles? I guess as long as you sterilize them first, why not.

I'd donate them without the nipples, or buy new nipples, but leave them in the package. I wouldn't use nipples another baby used on my kids.

well i look at it two ways:
1) i have wall-to-wall carpet- so I don't think they'd break on the carpet
2) I drink out of glass, not plastic, and i am not constantly breaking my glasses- so I doubt i'd break the glass bottles- oh and they are super thick. And if I drink out of glass when home, why shouldn't DC?

They are surprisingly durable. the only think you have to watch out for is banging them together, like in the diaper bag or somethuing, because that's what creates the chips.

I am always dropping them on the wood floor and never broke one Chat Icon

I'm not going to go out and buy new bottles. What for??? I mean there is always going to be a report about how certain products or foods contain bad stuff. I cannot run out and buy things everytime some new report comes about something. That's JMO...noone has to agree and I am not knocking anyone who is buying the glass bottles. As mom's we all have the right to do what we feel is best.

I agree that we should all do what's best, but this thread was not a debate about whether you should go and switch your bottles or not, there are other threads dedicated to that.

I don't know.
I don't really heat her bottles, she drinks at room temperature... i know if you heat gradually it should be OK- it's sudden changes of temp that makes glass crack....
