Funny Things at Interviews
So I had an 8am interview and get to the office in nyc at 7:45 and the door is slightly opened - but there's a door bell and no one seems to be there. So I ring the bell twice, no answer - so I go in and say "hello!" a few times. I realize whoever left the night before left the door open by mistake and shoudl I really be in there alone? But if I walk back out, I lock myself out. So, I ended up walking out, shutting the door and waiting outside the door as if it were never open. But of course, then the woman was late and I had to stand there for nearly 20 minutes! But I was standing inside like "Shoot - this doesn't look right, it looks as if I broke in or something - I was having a whole conversation with myself about what to do. Just thought it was kinda funny. Anyone else have weird interview stories like that?

Re: Funny Things at Interviews
I was scheduled to interview a new employee. I went to 'lunch' first. I dyed my platinum blonde hair black while I was out but didn't tell anyone I was going to do it. So I walk in the building and she's waiting for me. I show her into my office and start the interview. My boss walks by my door (I had left it open) and saw me sitting at my desk but didn't know it was me. I am FIERCELY protective of my desk and he knew I’d be mad if someone was in my office so he walks in and is like “Can I HELP you ladies?” I said to my boss “Ummmm… it’s ME.” the girl I was interviewing thought my boss was nuts

Re: Funny Things at Interviews
Those are cute
The worst for me was when I worked in NYC and had an interview in NJ. I worked in the AM and left early. My DH picked me up at the train. Problem was, it was a middle-of-the-summer-hot-and-humid-torrential downpour. I got soaking wet, literally, my hair was dripping. It's now 2:30. My appt is at 3:00. He takes me over to Subway so I can put on my suit in the bathroom there. I change and we run back out, still pouring, even though he was parked out front, we were soaked...
I get to the interview on time, in a wet suit and with a wet head.
I didn't get the job

Re: Funny Things at Interviews
My only funny interview story was interviewing with the flu. At the end of the interview, the guy went to shake hands & I said "I'm sorry. I can't shake your hand. I don't want to get you sick. I'm not weird about things like that but I had the idea of passing this on to anyone."
Got the job.
My friend had a great interview. When she was walking out her slip fell down around her ankles.
She stepped out of it, picked it up & said "I'll just take this with me." When they called her back with the offer, they said that they never saw someone handle such a difficult situation so gracefully.

Re: Funny Things at Interviews
Mine isn't that funny, but I was embarassed when it happened.
I was leaving an interview that I thought went terrible. After I thanked him and said goodbye I couldn't get the door open for the office and had to ask the person interviewing me, if it was open. Turns out I was pulling instead of pushing He had to come over and push it open to let me out. I thought the guy was going to think I was an idiot.
I got the job.
