Gallbladder removal

Just had mine out yesterday and am still feeling really sore in the spot where the gallbladder used to be. Is this normal? Has anyone had theirs out a dead this pain after?

Tia!

I had soreness for a while after... I was in the hospital until the next day (just my doctor's standard protocol). If you had laproscopic it's very deceiving. While there are only 3 little incisions on the outside of your body, you had MAJOR surgery on the inside - your insides are going to be sore and healing for a good long while. I was taking tylenol like it was going out of style for a week or two, my aunt was in bed for a week after, my cousin same thing.

No, you had MAJOR surgery yesterday - you had an ORGAN REMOVED!!!! You are going to be sore for a while. It's not like you wake up the next morning feeling amazing. It's just like any other surgery, there is a recovery period. Most doctors explain all this to you, I'm sorry they didn't reassure you themselves! Laproscopic surgery is very deceiving, like I said, because you have such small incisions on the outside, but it's VERY important to remember that you had surgery. The way it was explained to me is that basically INSIDE of you, the same surgery that would have occurred with the regular incision is what happened, you had your stomach pumped up with air, organs and muscles were moved around, an organ was removed, etc. The only big difference with the laproscopic surgery is that there are less/smaller incisions on the outside (and to your abdominal muscles), which results in less post-op infection and recuperating time.

Re: Gallbladder removal

It hurts because you just had an organ removed yesterday! It's normal! In a week you will feel much better. Just take it easy and go slow
