Game of Thrones- Spoilers- Those in the know I have another question
ok...so Geoffrey was killed last night. I have to say I was shocked because I DON'T remember it.....
1. What book did this happen in?
2. For Theon. I also don't quite remember him being taken hostage and being tortured. Yes, I saw last nights episode, but was there any actual point to him being tortured? The father wanted him as leverage for the Greyjoy empire to gain access...but do we know why the Snow son tortured him?
(I think I REALLY have to read the books again...)

Game of Thrones- Spoilers- Those in the know I have another question
u do have to re-read LOL I do not follow the show, just read the books Geoffrey was killed in the 4th book. Per my husband it looked very much on the show as in the book - being poisoned and all. and so funny u don't remember Theon being taken by the Bolton bstrd. If you remember when Winterfell was taken away from Theon by rebellious faction of the Northerners it was due to Bolton bstrd's machinations. He pretended to be Reek (his own servant). Then after they breached the gates of Winterfell Reek/Bolton bstrd took Theon and he turned him into new Reek. For the longest time in the book he doesn't allow him to refer himself as Theon, just as Reek. [btw, my friend also kinda skipped this part in the book and couldn't figure out who was the Bolton bstrd torturing or why. I had to make her go back and re-read all those chapters hehe]

Joffrey's wedding happens in book three -- A Storm of Swords.
You don't hear much about Theon being tortured until book 5 (A Dance with Dragons). In that book he is a POV character (Reek) and they are some of the most interesting chapters in that entire book.

Re: Game of Thrones- Spoilers- Those in the know I have another question
There was a better explanation in the book I thought about Bolton's *******. As for why he's torturing him, their sigil is the "flayed man" and they are known for this - dismembering their enemies. Gross. He's really sick in the head (obviously) and the father obviously didn't want to leave but had his own duties at the Red Wedding to attend to.
The ******* really seeks his father's approval (as all bastards we've seen really) and seemed really perturbed that his efforts weren't appreciated.

he does get the "approval" tho [spoiler] he gains legitimacy thru taking control of Winterfell - he becomes a Bolton by king's decree - and delivering it back to "Baratheon" (read: Lannister) control and they even marry him to "Arya" making Theon recognize the girl as Arya (which was why they never kill him off)
he is super vile tho. I hated any minute I had to spend reading any chapter with him in it
