Games to play at parties:
I guess this is the appropriate board?
I would love some suggestions for games that we can play at an upcoming party we're having. Now, there will only be adults there and it is like a cocktail party type of atmosphere so anything goes.
I have heard of, but never played, "would you rather". I'm not sure how it exactly works - does anyone know and can maybe explain it??
ANY other suggestions would be great, I'm looking for at least five.
Thanks!!!

Re: Games to play at parties:
I bought Partini last year and that is really fun if you have a smaller group of people (more than 6 but less than 15 I guess). Also, LCR is always fun, especially when you win!

Re: Games to play at parties:
early on in the night, have everyone write down the names of three tv or movie characters/actors/singers/famous writers/tv personalities/whatever famous people they can think of. all of the names go into a hat (there will probably be repeats and that's okay).
split the group into two teams. there are three rounds to this game and someone on each side needs to tally the score for each round.
all of the names go into a hat (both sides will use the same characters/famous people for all of their rounds).
round one, one person has to describe the character on slip of paper that they pull out and their group has to guess (within a reasonable amount of time). then the next group does the same exact thing with the same slips of paper (you have to get through every single one in the hat).
round two - all with the same names in the hat- a new person must get up in front of the group to describe the person/character on the slip of paper using only three words. other team does the same thing.
round three - again, same names in the hat - a third person from the group has to get up in front of the group and have the group guess who's on the slip of paper without speaking. whichever team had the most total correct guesses wins.
let me know if anything in this is unclear - i've done this before at parties - the first time i did it reluctlantly but it's actually fun

Pictionary is a great one too. Just get an easel with a big pad of paper and markers.

all i can think of are drinking games from college that i might still occasionally play
What about Cranium? we always enjoy playing that - its got something for everyone.

Re: Games to play at parties:
Not sure if this is the same thing, but my friend had a "would you rather" book & she used to read the questions on our camping trips & it drove me crazy.
I was invited to a party and when we rsvp'd we had to include 2 surpising facts about oursleves.
They were all put on a grid, like bingo & everyone got a copy at the party.
You had to try & figure out who did what, by guessing, or asking--it got people who didn't know each other talking to each other & it lead to some great stories.
It could be x-rated if you wanted it to be.
My friends are also really immature & still play drinking games like beer bong & flip cup.

Re: Games to play at parties:
LCR is a dice game -- you have 3 dice that have either a L, C, R and pass spots on each one.
Everyone sits in a circle and you start with 3 chips. (We played with dollars at my girlfriend's house.)
You roll all three dice and whatever you land on is what you have to do.
L = left C = center R= right dot or star = pass
so if i throw 3 dice and get:
L L C
I have to pass 2 chips/dollars to the person on my left and the third goes to the pot in the Center. (If you get a dot or star, that means you pass on that one, so an L L (pass) means I only have to pass 2 chips to the left and keep the third)
Now it doesn't necessarily mean I'm out, because the people on the left & right of me might end up getting dice throws that make them have to give me their chips/dollars.
When it's your turn, you can only roll the dice by the number of chips you have.
So if I only have 1, I am tossing one dice, but if i have none, I can't toss. As the game goes on, the pot gets bigger and people keep getting tossed out and back into the game.
The game is over when only one person is left with chips.
It really is a hilarious game and you would not believe how involved everyone gets and all the cheers and taunts as you are throwing the dice. We had sooo much fun playing and there were 18 people doing it the last time I played.

LRC is Left, Right, Center - it's a dice game (you can get them at BB&B) and you play with money. It's a lot of fun when you play with a big group. It's easy to play for all ages and gets exciting!

Re: Games to play at parties:
I got a game a while ago called "Pervatistry"
it's like Pictionary only perverted words to act out or draw. Pretty funny.
I totally forgot the name of the game, but it's one where you get a word like "bus" and then there are 5 words you CANNOT use to explain it like... yellow, kids, school, etc.
Kinda funny and makes it hard to guess. Plus, as your drinker it's more fun

Re: Games to play at parties:
i think the best XXX , or R-Rated game is called "What's Your Price?"
the idea is: everyone has a price, it's just a matter of what amount, lol
for example, "How much would you have to be paid to make out with your cousin?"
(the questions can get much worse, but i'm trying to be good here)
a person might answer, "20 grand."
you bargain and say, "would you take 15?"
and on and on.
it's very sick, yes. but hilarious. and the answers can't leave the room!!!!!
