Re: gardening question
I know impatiens will not work. They need shade and we have none. I tried that last year and by July htey were all dead. I am thiniking Geraniums may be the best bet here. I think we are also going to get a big contianer and plant tomatoes. I am also thinking of a herb garden......anybody know anything about herbs??

Re: gardening question
I had my New Guinea Impatiens in full sun and they bloomed beautifully. They're the ones with the big glossy leaves though, not the small impatiens.
You could do some companion planting with some ornamental grass, million bells, canna lilies, banana... There are tons!

Re: gardening question
I agree, new guinea impatiens are the ones that like full sun. Gerber Daisies & zinnias like full sun too.

Re: gardening question
my parents own a garden center... i would say geraniums would be great for full sun- they need at least a half day. also- look for vinca flower ( not to be confused with vinca vine that you see in hanging baskets) the vinca flower looks a lot like impatiens, BUT can take total sun AND can take it a little dryer than a lot of other stuff, so doesn't need constant watering- its become relaly popular at my parents store the passed few years. other than that, maybe try begonias, marigolds, portulca, zinnias for something tall....
