Gas Heat vs. Oil Heat
I currently have oil heat with an ancient burner which needs to be replaced before the long NY winter. I am looking for opinions on which is cheaper to run on Long Island . . . Gas vs. Oil?

Re: Gas Heat vs. Oil Heat
Right now it's about the same more or less depending on your oil contract.

Re: Gas Heat vs. Oil Heat
I have oil, but I live in a condo and it is pumped in. It's clean in here, not much dust, but my skin and lips get dry from the heat.

Same for us!!
we had a really old inefficient oil burner, that left soot all over the house, and since we switched to gas its never been better!!

We have oil now. The house I grew up in used gas. I have to say the gas was so much easier. I hate the oil tank and I hate the electric stove!!

I have oil. So far so good. We have a service contract and then if our burner goes they will replace it.

Re: Gas Heat vs. Oil Heat
We love our gas. I love that I never have to worry about oil deliveries or running out (although my dad said that during a decrease in supply they went around with 100 gallons for everyone, so everyone would have a little bit and then came back to fill all the way a week or two later - so they are good when shortages are around)
I like the cleanliness of it and convenience. Also there is nothing like cooking on gas. I also find I pay less than people with oil, but I could be a bit of a scrooge when it comes to the thermometer.
