Genetic Screening
My midwife reccommended genetic screening to me. I am only 26 and she said that I am young and really dont have to do it but its good just to make sure all is ok.
Anyone else in my age range do this?

I am 27 and am getting all the blood tests done for genetic screening as well....it's just part of the procedure at my Dr's office, I don't think it matters how old you are.

I am 26 and my dr. tested me for everything and anything. I think it is routine now for dr.'s to go overboard. I actually felt better after knowing I was healthy and didnt have the cystic fibrosis gene, etc.

I'm 25. Though I hated my original dr., he said 1 thing that I liked..."You are far too young for all these amnios and specialized tests." [I wouldn't have had them anyway]
I think at 26, you'd be wasting your time and money to have them done. I wouldn't give it another thought.
Besides, what if something bad does show up...do you really want to play God and make that choice?

at my last doctor's visit, she asked me which test we want to do screening or the other one I forget the name (they stick a needle in you)... I am only 29, my chance of having a baby with down's sydrome is I believe 1:1000 and she is giving me a chance of 1:200 that I could miscarry the baby after the procedure.. needless to say we opted for the screening test...

WE had to have genetic screening, not so much because of age but because of ethnic background.
Downs is more age related but there are several genetic markers that will show up at any age, especially, in certain ethnic/racial backgrounds.
