Genetic Testing/Screening
My OBGYN mentioned last time I was in the office that when DH and I decided to TTC that we could do genetic testing beforehand. I was just researching and I read that even if both parents are carriers for certain things that there is still only a 25% chance that your baby will have the disease.
We are going to start TTC next month and I am wondering if I should even bother having this done before do. I originally thought we would b/c I thought if both parents were carriers then that meant the baby would have that disease and that might change our path in building a family. Now that I know there is really no guarantee then I don't think that would change our minds either way.
What has everyone else done? Are you/have you done testing before TTC or not? Is there any other info you have found that maybe I didn't?

Re: Genetic Testing/Screening
No. But we also didn't do any of the testing after getting pregnant with DD either so maybe I'm not a good to give an opinion..

Re: Genetic Testing/Screening
We actually questioned why we needed to have all these tests run.. if we got pg by accident, we never would have even had the option and it wouldnt have mattered.. But in the end we decided to do it. DH is Jewish and apparently there are some other possible genetic tests to run specifically for that. After the fact m glad we did it because it's something I know I don't have to worry about. And knowing me, Ill worry unless I know it's ruled out.
So in short, you dont have to do it.. for some it's just peace of mind. HTH!
