German Chocolate Cake
My DH's birthday is Saturday and I would love to either make him or buy him his favorite...German Chocolate Cake.
Does anyone have a simple recipe or know of an amazing bakery? We both don't really like the "typical" Italian Bakery type items so any place out of the ordinary would be great.
Thanks!

Re: German Chocolate Cake
I made a bastardized version of this cake for my Oktoberfest in 2011 (last year)
I made the Hershey's chocolate cake off the unsweetened cocoa can (an easier cake to make IMO) I iced the cupcakes in the glaze this recipe calls for, and I dipped them in the coconut and pecans, baking them like they call for in this recipe.
everyone LOVED them. hope this helps.

Re: German Chocolate Cake
OK, every year for years my husband buys me a German Chocolate Cake from Bake My Cake (or maybe it is Make my Cake) in Harlem. It is the most amazing cake. He has been ordering it for at least six years. A few years after we started ordering it, we saw them on Bobby Flay's German Chocolate Cake Throwdown.

Re: German Chocolate Cake
The recipe on the box of Baker's German Chocolate is a classic and very easy to make.
It's my favorite cake too
Not sure, but Dortoni's in Levittown might sell it.
