I feel like its my duty to visit a Holocaust work camp or concentration camp while I am in Germany and I'd feel guilty if I didn't. But does anyone know if there were any near/outsie Franfurt?

I think the closest one is outside of Munich at Dachau. Hitler kept the camps outside of Germany and anything that was in Germany was liquidated before the Allies got to it.

While in Munich DH & I visited Dachau.
It was a very surreal experience, to say the least, but one that I would recommend to anyone. I can't explain it but the air was different as soon as we entered the compound - it was heavier and very quiet. Very somber experience.
