Getting DC out of the house on time for school

I feel like every morning is a rush with DS. he's in kindergarten so it is all new. DH is usually in charge of getting DS out of the house and on to the bus in the morning and he has been getting so impatient with DS. He likes school but takes his time doing everything. Breakfast, teeth, getting dressed, shoes, etc. How does your morning routine go? I'd love for it to be less stressful for everyone.

In kindergarten I put out DS clothing for him to wear. Now that DS is in first grade I would say he cares about what he wears about 1/2 the time. We explained that if he gets himself ready on time, he can watch tv before he leaves. He does not get to watch any tv until his home work is complete, so it is an incentive to do his work and also to get ready on time.

I used to feel the same exact way. In fact usually 3-4 days started with some sort of argument or me losing my temper with DS. This year we're getting up 15 minutes earlier. I like my sleep more then the next person, but that 15 minutes really makes a big difference. It give DS some time to dilly dally, yet still get himself ready in time.

Same problem here. Started K , and the bus comes before8. It's very early for us, but I have to get up earlier. I know that, I just don't want to ds is a slow eater too

Put a behavior incentive chart and use timers. We don't have this problem in the morning, but we do at night time. I put a timer on for x amount of minutes. If he completes everything on his checklist, he gets a sticker on his chart, towards his eventual goal. Right now, he has to earn 20 stickers to achieve his goal, but it changes with what he is earning.

I have 3 kids & go yo school. I keep tv off.lol.. that usually does the trick. Try laying out clothes bath @ night simple breakfasts pre pack lunch.
Make getting ready a game like who can get ready first. My DS has been getting ready feeding himself & making his own lunch & catching bus for couple of yrs now.

I have to wake DS about 50-40 minutes before we have to leave. Because he is super super slow, I mean staring into space, taking forever to put a shirt on slow. So although he has to get up earlier, its less stressful and avoids me yelling every 5 seconds to hurry.

In the beginning it was an hour before and then he is slightly faster so it changed to 40-50 minutes. The gym days he can get the extra 10 minutes because he doesnt have to deal with the buttons on his uniform

ETA routine:
- I make him breakfast, then tell him put your dish in sink, brush your teeth and get dressed.
-I have his clothes layed out in his bed.
-i have to check on him sometimes - like this morning he got distracted taking his pjs to the hamper and i found him just staring out his window with pjs in hand.

Im tired from getting up earlier but its just easier in the mornings.

I do everything I can the night before... Pick out outfit, make lunch, do homework, I even brush out her hair & put it up so its not knotty in AM. I put out the cereal bowls, spoons & box's. in the morning no tv/iPad etc until she's ready.

Getting them to bed at a decent time is really important. If they get to bed later that usual, our mornings can be a little stressful because they don't want to wake up. Also for me, I notice the mornings where I have had a good night's sleep are usually our best because I feel relaxed and tend to rush less.

They take showers before bed and I get their clothes ready at night also. I get myself ready before I wake them up and get one up at a time. DS#2 goes in bathroom first and when he is getting dressed we wake up DS#1.

I go down to make breakfast, pack lunch and snacks for after school. No TV until they have their socks/shoes on and eat breakfast.

We have our moments, but so far this has been a pretty good school year. It takes time to figure out what works, so just do little adjustments and see how it goes.
